    Default U.S. Players Welcome??

For the first time today I looked into putting real money into an online poker site 'Poker Stars'. As I was entering my information, both the Visa AND the Master Card options stated some crap about ''A new policy'' that will not allow U.S. players to withdraw their winnings via their credit card establishment??

It sounds like I can put my money 'into' the online poker acount -w- my credit card, but I cannot 'withdraw' my money via the same credit card account?

What is this nonsense all about?

    Please advise.

So they tell me that I can deposit -w- an e-check. WTF?
    That sounds too complicated.

yes, depositing and withdrawing from a poker site IS complicated for US citizens. All I can say is deal with it. PokerStars is the biggest site, and is trusted. So go spend some research time on the hoops u gotta jump through to deposit/withdraw, or walk away.

Default US banking is why the UIGEA is such a pain

    hi

yep all the issues and problems with deposit and withdrawl options for US players is as a result of the UIGEA (Unlawful Internet Gaming Enforcement Act) - which ONLY affects banking transactions for gambling ...

it DOES NOT make online gambling illegal in the US

but it has totally messed things up for online gambling - which is the only way they could sneak the UIGEA through

there is every indication that in the next year maybe two it will get sorted out the UIGEA will be overthrown and some halfway sensible legislation will come in instead

the biggest problem with the UIGEA is that its made depositing and withdrawls harder for casual US players ... which means lots of the fish cant be bothered to try and find the alternatives to a straight credit card deposit ... and they are out there

this leaves diehard players who will find a way - making the games tougher

    cheers scrawnybob

Yes agreed and although we all love die hard players to keep the game real, we still love the fish to make a little extra on the side lol.

But from and honest point of view I will take all the die hard players anyday as I like to play real poker and not have to suffer them awful bad beats with there 7-3 off suit beating your trip AAA

I have used E-Checks @ Pstars and it was done in a minute, just give your account info and SS# and the money is taken right out of your checking account, you can also make withdraws using E-Checks.

    Hope this helps you out

My wife is very wary about giving out our account info to anybody (especially an online gaming site).
I guess that I'll just play my cash at the brick and mortar games nearby.
I did find another (famous) poker site that would accept my credit card though.
I guess I'll try my luck there.

Default the known and established sites are fine

    hi

I would say thay without doubt the known and established sites are totally fine for security

there are smaller less known sites on very small networks that maybe should be avoided but if you stick with the big sites and the main sites on big skins you will be fine

    cheers scrawnybob

ps. I actually trust my money with the known and proven online ewallets and online poker sites above having an online account with my bank (I dont bank online)

Easiest thing to do if you are worried about giving out a main checking account number. Go to bank where you have account and open a secondary account. Most allow this to avoid min. balances and such. And then use it for all your online poker. I personally find E-Check the way to go as a U.S. player and wish more sites used it.
