    Default Poker Etiquette

I always hate it when ppl behave rude on a table, in the chat (online) and in RL.

Therefore, I hope ppl will read this and reflect

    So my top 3 NOT-DONE's:

    1. Talking about your hand when your not in the hand etc.
    2. Calling ppl names (only donks call ppl a donk)
    3. Thank ppl when they lose chips/money in your advantage

also found a nice site: http://www.texasholdem-poker.com/poker_etiquette

I hope you share your NOT-DONE's with me

    Cheers!

    1. Talking about a previous hand is okay but you should never comment on the current hand unless you are still in it.

    2. Name calling is not on but some do it to wind people up and put them off, others it's just a reaction to a bad beat. If it gets to you switch of chat.

    3. Often the thank you is a reply to comments about the hand rather than the chips they won, but I know what you mean about some gloating.

Personally I rarely add to chat (except in forum games) although I do enjoy reading some of the idiotic comments made and back and forth some players get into.

I think my post sounded a little melodramatic hahaha, but they never get to me. Just find it a little sad and immature when ppl overreact. And I never turn off the chat - I love those 'idiots' trash talk crap lol

    My dont's....

    1) people who got knocked out of a tour, and asking in the chat.. "Why you call with that hand, you @#$@"

    2) people who tells you, you should never chase a draw when somebody bets 3/4 or more of a pot... (they never heard about implied odds)...

    3) people using all "the time"....

Its ok to do it occasionally as a tactical measure but not every hand

Default depends on the decision your trying to decide on

    hi

IMHO using time depends on the decision your trying to decide on

I guess there are the odd occasions where you use it tactically where someone totally has your number and you plan to fold no question but for the purposes of table image "need" time for a tough decision - but thats not something I would use often

for me I use time on cash game where for example the call is a $50 call or a $200+ shove or a fold giving up a big pot ...

then I think its perfectly acceptable to have 20secs to replay the hand in your head and figure if your having the wool pulled over your eyes or if your about to shoot yourself in the foot

given some people stress about a $10 bankroll I dont see a problem with taking time on a marginal hand / play for $200+ pot etc

same goes for a genuinely tricky call / fold / all-in / raise in a tournament

    cheers scrawnybob

For me, it's someone commenting on someone else's play. Everyone is allowed to play any way they want but some people think that if you don't follow the "rules" you are doing something wrong. Leave 'em alone, let them play. If they get lucky, they get lucky. Chances are they won't be around to the end if they play reckless.
