TV poker is the sux
other than poker after dark and high stakes poker, there is some seriously bad crap on. WSOP is OK. WPT OK. but has anyone seen either face the ace or pokerstars million dollar challenge? just terrible.

Poker after dark is a good show but I've not seen it in the schedules in the UK for a while. I like the WPT coverage and the 2004 to 2007 WSOP wasn't bad but WSOP 2008 was just about the big hands. No idea when we will see WSOP 2009.
The poker channel europe shows a lot of poker late at night here but to be honest most of it's rubbish it takes 5 minutes to get started and your into a commercial after one hand. In a one hour show your lucky to see a dozen hands.
Most of the shows are 6 player table heats where winner goes to final and 2nd to semi. These get boring after you've seen over a couple of seasons.
Although there are a lot of players in the UK I don't think there's a big enough demand for the TV channels to show more.Team UK Winners Full Tilt Poker Team Cup III
Individual Winner PKR Cup III

If you try to play by copying what you see on TV your making a big mistake as you only see the premium hands.Face the Ace is like a bad reality TV show.I like Poker afte dark not for the poker but for the funny stories they tell and there light hearted talks.

If you are looking at these shows to improve your play, fat chance! A lot of players on these shows are amateurs and qualify via freerolls and other exemptions. You also have to take into account that te editors decide which hands are aired and you have to understand what information the players pick up when the cameras are not rolling.
When at the tables, play for the love of the game and show respect for your opponents.

I stick to watchin the poker on ESPN and I can't go wrong. Then I notice I have seen the same episode 4 times, then it's like you remember the hand and you can pull a fast one on your buddy, rooting for the guy that will eventually win the hand. Lol,

With poker being on the tele now moreso than in past year's with increased tournaments, players and play styles have evolved. I would not say that the quality of poker is bad due to the fact that not a lot of big hands are dealt over the course of a 3+ day tournament. Also, we see hands that rags are going at each other not knowing what history and reads players have on one another. Also, there have been some hands perceived to be played as bad, but position and math are a huge part of of why players do not always play TAG poker.
When at the tables, play for the love of the game and show respect for your opponents.

Poker After Dark actually shows every single hand during the 6-plyr. Winner-Take-All format (no hands are missed).

I like watching the occasional poker show but i see them do alot of the things i have had others say not to do, but then again i may not have seen the whole game due to editing as has been mentioned so what appears like a strange choice may in fact be a great move but i saw it out of context, because obviously if they are on tv playing then they know alot more then i do!!

tv poker
i don't think the us actually has a poker channel. to bad. i like some of the older shows. (the ones where they don't show your hole cards!) i always seem to miss the "gimmick" sponsered poker site shows.
i like the wpt and wsop episodes...i wish they would include a few circuit events though. hi stakes poker is always fun because you get some drama with it! poker after dark comes on at 02am so its hard to catch that. i find it entertaining to watch tv poker.
