One thing I do use that site for is.... sharing a HandHistory that you've played with a friend/peer for purposes of discussion.
ie. ... this is how I will usually get stacked off in the micros, LOL

data mining and selling HH
hi
afiak the issue sites have with it is that they sell hand histories that they have data mined
so its not just like they have created a ranking
agreed all sports having rankings - but these sites are like a live poker player being able to make notes while playing at the table while also being able to buy data on all your previous play - that doesnt happen in this kind of detail live or in this kind of detail in any other game
so IMHO there isnt a real life or live comparision - IMHO buying HH's which is what this site does does give players unfair advantage
looking up some of their stats tables on player xyz agreed is of limited help - and its interesting ... but the site makes its money from selling the mined data on 1000's of hands to put in HUD's etc for play that was never actually seen by the player - thats the issue
in effect you can buy very detailed info on player(s) as you see fit

Thankyou for your post Poker Orifice.
I was interested in the BB/100 stat, what it means and how it works. My understanding is that it is much easier to attain a higher BB/100 in the micro levels which is where I am.
After last night I’m 18.9/100 based on almost 25k hands on 001/002. It has been time to move up for a while but I transferred funds and started over in October of last year so I’m just now getting to the point where I feel comfortable to move up to 005/010. Playing at these levels I figure I will have to take one helluva thrashing to wipe out my roll.
At 005/010 I was 0.4 based on 2200 hands, after last night I am 3.29 based on 2300. The mathematical equation still eludes me.
From what I have read if you can maintain a 2-3/100 at $5/$10 you are in great shape but I read somewhere about you need an average sample size of at least 5k hands.
Still no comments yet on whether or not you think secondary programs such as trackers contribute to the lag/disconnects. Last night I disconnected twice, both times I had AA in the hole and the disconnects happened when the action came to me. I don’t get too upset because AA can get you in a world of trouble in Omaha and both times I was able to reconnect just in time to see I didn’t need to be in either hand anyway.

All programs that are intended for use with online poker software should be banned while playing IMO. Stats after the fact are OK but even then if people are disseminating that information collected on players they've played against to all other players online through a website or software app, it's use should be banned completely. Nobody should be able to keep track of your playing information except other players manually with pen or pencil. It's bad enough that poker online on computers seems "predictably unpredictable" as I once saw someone type at FTP.

I have a couple of programs which are basicaly odds calculators. Both are on the approved list on PS. One shows the last 17 hands played which just saves looking at hand history on the site. Although I used them all the time when I first got them but I find them distracting now as I prefer to study the other players betting habits etc and make notes.
I have no problem with people using approved programs as I don't think they give any real edge against good players. From the number of bad calls at micro level there not that many using them.

Hi... new member here. Been reading for awhile, but thought I'd register.
So... my question is... how will they know if you're looking at the site? I can't believe they track through your history of your browser, or search for cookies... is it something where you'd have to stupidly tell someone in chat that you're looking them up?
Yeah... I've looked at it. What I liked is looking back at my different sessions and seeing what I'd done with what hands.. And let me tell you I need all the help I can get. I've never bought any hand history or anything.
Anyway, I'm playing real low stakes on PS. Hope to improve and see some of you out there.Last edited by Elbarad; 01-27-2010 at 09:34 PM.

Hi
It is a known fact that the poker clients can take screen shots of your desktop.
Pokerstars confirmed that but they said they're not doing it (anymore)
However Fulltilt does it quite often and has closed and seized numerous accounts for this reason.
Oh you play on stars. I think you're safe to do it. But it's always better to close the poker client 1st and then open ptr and look at it for how much time u would like.

I have never heard that before. I do my player searches all the time while playing Haven't had a problem so far and really don't see why it would be a problem to search peoples stats and hands if it is I may be in trouble.

I'm assuming you have to download some software from their site and then use the program while playing Pokerstars. Tried to do a little checking up and it says something about graphs popping up when you drag your cursor across a players icon.
If Pokerstars were to ban every player that visits the site then there would only be the bots left
Speaking of which I read that PTR is tracking some short stack players that play 22-23 hours a day for 6 days straight, over 1 million hands in a month. Maybe that kind of information is the reason Pokerstars ain't too fond of the site.
I'm still visiting regularly, seen ALOT of super LAG players on 5c/10c just beating up on the tables, non stop raising (from preflop to the river) and hitting everything. I'm playing Omaha and I can tell you that alot of the hands are only worthy of a raise in Badugi so it makes no sense to me.Check them on PTR and I swear that 90-95% of them are new accounts >2k hands. It's getting so bad that I really only check them out to confirm my suspicions of new account "luck"
With all the conspiacy theories I know you don't need another but I swear something fishy here. What "new player" would come to a site and start firing away throwing caution to the wind? Not me. When I started out I was tiptoeing around trying to hide my chips from the rest of the players on the table.
And I got called a donk today, finaly, I have evolved from fish
