Default 6 Seat 3K GTD - WAY OUT OF MY LEAGUE

Dont laugh, Feeling good decided to try the biggest buy in (5.50 I know INSANE lol) and biggest pot I have ever tried for. 6 Seat 3K GTD - First Im glad I watched a few hands and saw real betting not this all in stuff. Next I realized pretty quick there are strategies with this 6 seat deal that are so far over my head that I knew this was gonna be hard. Was good for a while maxing at 2.1K but as I will show here I think I did the position mistake again, and these people werent waiting for premium hands they were making it work with mediocre pockets and I knew maybe I stepping a little too far.

FIRST WHat things different does a 6 man table bring, blinds 30% faster and only 2 positions for each level. BUt like I said these folks were WAY OVER MY HEAD.

SO here are a few hands and let me know - I stuck to my rules

DID I HANDLE THIS RIGHT, I WON HAND BUT ..

2 Q's seem playable, being middle WAS 350 a forceful enough bet preflop. Guess not I got called. When Villian raised me on the turn with 2 10's Seeing what you see do you think he was bluffing. A called his bet since I had 10's and Q's hoping to hit a full house, River didnt help me, possibly could of helped him for a full house (dunno why he would play a 10 4 but I think highly doubtful)

The position bet of 525 caused me to run for cover. I should of sealed this deal earlier - DO you think he would still chase me If I pushed HIgher preflop bet. I DUNNO but this was the start of the end. I think I ran scared here but I couldnt beat trips

AND FINALLY SHOULD I HAVE GOTTEN IN THE HAND AT ALL

    -------------------------------------

ALL I WROTE FOR THIS ONE IS HOW DID THIS HAPPEN Not the end but a knockout punch

BAD BEAT or STUPID CALL or what. BOth of us where early position and with field totally cut out, I became early position. He pushed all in with pair of 4's over my QA, This is where I think a higher level of strategy comes into play. Roles reversed, I would not have invested this much in 2 4's but thats where I think just better players or am I wrong. Plus I might have been in too much a rush to regain ground, but my hand seemed strong.

    WEll thats it for today

Played about 6 or 8 MTTs today and this one is the biggest bankroll hit I have taken at one time. WOuld I be better off at a 9 table 3K GTD I mean how different are strategies with a 6 man table as far as hands youd play, DO the standards get a little loser for each level early medium and late

FOr whats it worth I placed 257 out of 648 but need top 66 to win money.

THinking some more, I wonder If the whole table had me pegged, as they let me win some early hands and knew I would be easy later (I didnt show my cards) but maybe my betting was too predictable.

I'll address a couple of hands:

    1) QQ: Bet the flop yourself. If he calls, you're beat. If he folds, you win. You raised preflop. He doesn't know what you have ... When you check the flop, the 100 bet on the turn is generally a bet to see where you are at. You called and didn't check raise. Big mistake. Raise. Find out if he has the K. Be aggressive. River, fold. He's bet again, this time a decent amount. He's probably got A10. When you checked the flop, he put you on a low pair, AQ, AJ, or even A rag.

    2) Last hand: AQ: You had 13 big blinds. Either play is fine. Raising/folding to a shove is tight/but OK. Raising/calling is probably better. It amazes me how people are so willing to shove with 44 here. No regard to an early raiser. This is one of the things I think that baffles Hellmuth since the Internet started and its evident in his play in that one hand when he walks away and says 'that dummy put all his money in with two 7s.' HE HAD THE BEST HAND. But he was willing to race. If you're not willing to race, you're probably not going to win. You may sneak into the cash or you may bubble.

    Good luck.

FYI: Use hand histories in the future please ... Your writing is tough to read.

This is bad ass stuff here now. I should of raised the turn to see if he had a K, if called or raised, I assume he has the K or assume both either K or A 10. So at the turn I should check raised 1/3 1/2 1/4 of my stack. I keep talking over what you said and I hope this is more advance stuff because. Im starting to see what you are saying, If he checked or re-raised me - FOLD ASAP. I shouldnt chase a Q on the river though.

WOW this is good stuff you wrote.

2nd hand. Guy Limped on me early, I tried to force him out with bet. He called Since i have already invested I wouldnt fold here would I and assume he has better pockets.

Thanks again, check out my other threads and see if you polish the flaws

I wondered something about your all post: why are you so low in stack all allong the tourney? Many reasons would explain that, but i feel like your a bit too conservative, mostly for a 6 seater game.
Maybe you should try to open your own range of hands to raise so that when you want some action, you'll find players more easily.
    a) I would have raise pre-flop with AK and probably bet the flop as you were in position to.
    b) I would have raise 110, IDKW.
    c)
I agree pirates assertion. More to know and less to lose with a bet on flop.
    d) I would have probably call there hoping to catch sthing on flop, or feel weakness in opponents behaviour.

Chipstack is a major issue with me. Using everything I have read from my threads, I have been able to increase my chip stack up a big degree. as the 1K satalite FR I was up to 33K at one point but I still would need to be able double that to ride comfotably in that tourny.

Agreed 100% i gotta open my range, right now its like A-Q (any combo for early pos) - A-9 (most combos for mid pos) - and A-5 (better combos for late). I understand to not be chasing straights but what about chashing flushes

at one point do I start dropping my kicker requirements and just hope I pair J-A.

Im starting to think that If I dont have a nut hand then Im gonna start avoiding all in situations at all cost. Try and not get myself forced into an all in situation pre flop.

If I drop my requirments of straights - should I only played suited mid connectors or is offsuit ok to try and see, espcially if I can see a flop. BUT IF I PLAY 67o MId position, I would want to limp in on this and see flop or push a little harder as if I have something.

Is it wise to chase low end straights if pockets are A (2-4)s or o . If I can see cheap flops I should but then try to get a feel if my hand strong or not by dropping small bets on flop if say a 3 hits on the flop or should I get out then and there.

I have a lot of stuff to get in my head, but I gotta start stretching out a little on my hand requirements but Im just not sure what type hands I feel comfy doing that with. You know it seems most players have some special set up they wait for, OH HELL YEA MY 86s and they always make something out of it.

Once I get my chipstacks up, I should be an OK player in a few months
