Default The advice is paying off

Once again, I have really been focusing on keeping my game right. I want to eliminate the all in situation until I know I have the hand unless blinds force me too. I have dropped some high pockets to all ins but so far AA, KK , QQ all resulted in being busted.

I need some big help on finishing a tourny and keeping higher chips stacks off guard. I have finally realized that any tourny I have place in or qualified in was based on crazy suckouts and a nigh number of great pockets. This was the first time I really felt in control of my game.

I did get into another door crasher earlier this week and placed 9th out 30th because I DOTN KNOW HOW TO FINISH A TOURNY

But this might not be much be CHECK THIS OUT

Hey Dan i feel your pain, i mean i do allright in the tournies i play but for some reason once i make it to the cashing part i seem to drop off alot and instead of having alot of wins or seconds i have alot of 5 thru 8 for example. I was wondering why because i don't change my style , could that in itself be the problem ? I am not the typical abc type player i am a donk who goes by gut instinct with a little bit of by the book poker, hey that could be the problem

I dont know what it is but I think it could be the chip totals that screw with my mind. Early on 200 chips might seem like a big bet but late in a tourny a regular low bet is like $4K and Im still thinking in terms of the 200 chip bet. Maybe I should (OR SHOULD NOT LET ME KNOW ANYONE) always play like I have 1500 chips and just muliply how many X Im above that and then realize that my low bet might be 6K and in reality that would be the same % of chips I would bet if I had 1500 chips and bet 200. DOES THIS MAKE ANY SENSE.

Also once I start getting in position to figure how I am going finish up , Its like I freeze, BB=4K someone raises 12K and IM like HOLY SHOOOOOOT, I aint putting up 12K and thats one of the main problems, because some of these cards people turn over just make me even more mad I didnt play the hand. Plus I think reality starts setting in that, WOW IM here now what, its not like 2000 players anymore its 20 players.

I really get frazzled if a big chip leader is on my left because I have only one hand per orbit where I can see his move first and usually a big stacker to my left is like I dont care what you bet, Im gonna call you for most of your stack everytime. This is another flaw in my game (HELP ME HERE HINT HINT HINT) when Im a big stack at a table later in a tourny, Im an awful pusher, nobody take my pushes seriously, I dont know if they are too big or too small of a push and there are times I dont push at all and just play the hands I feel I will win instead of trying to steal blinds (Mainly because my pushes send no fear to anyone)

Oh yea lets not forget one of the biggest problems, them chips with 20 people left dont seem as easy to get as they did 2 hours earlier in the tourny. BUt I guess if I am gonna really try to be a winning player, I gotta got over stalling until I get my buy in back because Im usually short stacked by then, and aggressively take every hand I should be winning and If I get beat, DONT GET BITTER GET BETTER

I mean honestly, I only have between $1-$3 invested but still .......

HI PLAYFUL, your post are outrageously cool, but what is a p.u.t

I wish one of the better players here could step in and say something, they never stayed silent before ? By the way, the P.U.T. is playfuls usefull theory, thats how she wins like she does, it's her advice on poker playing, go ahead and ask her she loves to explain it

To my mind the way to sort this out is to use the BB size as a multiplier....If the bb earlier is 30 ....3 times is a decent raise ....i'e. 90....If the BB is 2000 then a reasonable raise is 6000.....Ofcourse this all depends on your chip stack in contrast to the person or people u are raising and the way people have been playing previously and also ofcourse on position and the strength of your hand.

    Complicated game poker....lol

I run into the same problem in MTT's on Poker Stars. I cash probably 60-65% of the time, but usually I've been so conservative that I'm short stacked by that time and it's too late to make a deep run unless I get very lucky. When push comes to shove before the cash I find it very difficult to call a large bet when I'm on a draw to the nuts. I really have trouble getting my mind around the idea that it's ok to do so if the odds are right, then I end up kicking myself when the 10 outer hits and I could have tripled up but instead I find myself limping towards the cash.

And to be clear, I'm talking very small stakes stuff. Free rolls or less than a dollar entry fees. So it's not like I should be afraid of losing .25 cents or something.

Haha... so for the results oriented...

Last night after the flop I had an open ended straight flush draw, and middle pair. Two people went all in... so did I for once.

    Of course I missed...

Still... I thought then and I think now it was probably the right call. It was early, so I hadn't put too much time into it. But I was almost at starting chips so it wasn't like I was pot committed.

Im starting to believe Im my own worst enemy. But AFTER ALL THE ADVICE from the board I feel I have better control of my game than I ever had before. Now If Id quit doing stupid shite when I know Im beat and JUST THINK, my game will even get better. I have decided on 2 things though, NO MORE FREE ROLLS (unless its a new deposit thing for money or board stuff) and I aint stalling anymore just to get my buy back in a tourny. I want to get my game up and I want to go for it. I AM GONNA GET BETTER and THERE WILL COME A TIME when folks at the table are going to know that Im dangerous. But right now the only danger I give is to myself.

I saw another thread and Im going that route too. Im gonna quit getting angry if I get beat by hands that should of been folded because that crap might work for a while and my game is not going be dependent on desperation. I dotn care if I lose $1 or $50, as long as I know I at least went for it and learned something from it than the buy in fee is just like paying for an education. BUT I KNOW THE PIECES ARE ALL GOING TO FIT TOGETHER and the results are gonna show it

and then Im gonna take out LOGAN - SBOB -and PETEY and collect the bounty and take em out and lets add PLAYFUL on the bounty too WOOOOO!!!!!!

(Wait did I say that, just pretend the last part wasnt even typed I just cant bring myself to erase it LOL)
