Some people justify playing more hands in ring games by saying the blinds are small and they can always reload. Others feel it's better to play tight because the small blinds mean there's little benefit to winning them, and you're not "forced" to play hands because of blind pressure as can happen in an MTT. I don't think either approach is inherently superior. What's best for you is whichever (or whatever point on the spectrum in between) better fits your personality.

Ring games start as a struggle for blinds and antes. The larger the blind/ante structures the more hands that need to be played.
In short handed play attacking the blinds is generally the optimal strategy, and defending the blinds just the same. It’s all a battle of/for the blinds

I think the styl of play you use in MTTs depends on the blind structure and how fast they go up. If the blinds increase every 10mins your hand selection may have to be a little wider than if they increased evry half hour as you will have time to pick your spot and not have to worry bout losing a ton of chips to the blinds.
