Doing that [simply calling] in a live game will get you felted quicker than you can say flop!

The simple matter of it is if you let J4, or Q6 play [and there are those that play it] they will hit two pair without you having ANY idea where you're at.

Making $$ in Hold-em is all bout understanding where you're at as the hand progresses.

Online limping w/ AA can often be effective mostly because it seems like [imho] online play is much more LAG. It's soooo easy to move on to a different table/game etc. Even w/ cash online.... You sit down and lets say you donk off $250.... You go sit at another table & you have what I like to call the "Inverse-Cheers" where no one knows your name [US TV show Cheers tagline had "where everyone knows your name" in the song].

In a live game, trust me... you'll go broke.

hth,

Everyone plays their own way, not critizing..

I've tried every which way.I lose some I win some.

It's good to know what others would do as like I said I've tried every which way.

I enjoy reading what others say and do listen although may not do what they say.

I asked my son who plays poker for a living what he would do and he said I bet to much on the flop.So I asked him what he thought the other guy had and he said KK or K3.

There's no absolute best way to play AA... no matter what anyone says. You have to take in a ton of factors when you play any hand. I think the most important of which is who you are playing against. Online this is usually limited information, but if you are paying close enough attention you should have a good clue as to whether you will get callers or not. This also has to do with position and timing during a tourney(if during a tourney). There is nothing like the rush you get when you see those rocks staring back at you is there? hahaha

As the previous post said, there's no one way to play AA. It depends on many factors which can have different weightings depending on situational considerations including but not limited to
- your stack size relative to the other players
- your stack size relative to the blinds
- your position on the deal
- the nature of the players still to act after you
- your table image, if you have one
- if it's a tournament, the type and current situation

That said, it's probably best most of the time to make a normal bet. You're willing to play a big pot, but you should want to chase out most other player so you only have to fade one or sometimes two opponents drawing out on you. Yes, sometimes everyone will fold to you bet, but you do still win a small pot.

Default hmmmmmmmmmmmm

As usual, more great stuff. ya'll are awesome!!! I have learned very important lesson
that has to be a "catch-all" for poker.........there are NO absolutes!! A fine example is
Mrspolarbear. You just don't know. I recently came across an article out there in cyberworld that listed the top 48 starting hands in Hold 'Em, so I copied this list to
a Notepad doc. I keep it handy and refer to it often. I was surprised at the ranking of a lot of the hands, as I was dead wrong on 1/2 of top 20 and confused about most of the rest on the list. This explained alot about how I kept getting myself in trouble by getting into hands I shouldn't be in on and trying to force other hands to my "will".
Both hard lessons to "experience". I have prided myself on not doing a lot of
"research", as I knew there is no "certain" method or system to guarantee success.
As someone said "Too many variables"....... C'est La Vie! As I mentioned earlier,
my "Pride" has kept me from doing this and brought me to do that, and that is key
issue I want mention. Your emotions will kill you if you are not aware of how they
affect your play. Golf has been "The only "good" bad habit I ever had" and years ago
I used to teach beginners, mostly women(another story all together!) and here's
an analogy I used to use to help try and explain the "emotional" part of that game.
There are 2 ways to play golf. You can either play like Yosemite Sam or like Bugs
Bunny. Sam will make a poor shot or hit the ball "stiff", 3 feet from the flag and get mad at the poor shot and even madder that the "stiff" shot didn't go in, now Bugs will do the same and he is happy to be on the "dance floor" on the good shot and just happy to be playing golf(instead of doing something less desireeable than palying golf) on the poor shot. The main point, I suppose to all that is that you must not allow your emotions to get the upper hand on how you react. In golf you must get over
adversity before your next shot or you WILL make more mistakes and soon the
"wheels will fall off". I think poker is very similar as I know I have gotten "fed up"
with poor results and commited "suicide by all-in" on more than a few occasions
just to get out of there before I popped!! My new "patience" approach and this new
ranked hands list has really helped a lot, but there is one really key issue that I
see a WHOLE lot of players miss out on. It is the best of SEVEN cards, not the 2
each player is dealt pre-flop. A-A or any other high ranking starting 2 does not in
any way assure success. I love to point that out in the chat box to those poor guys
that get beat by "under cards" and go on and on about how everyone else is a donk!
I am sure it ALWAYS makes them feel better........HAHAHHAHAHAHAhahahah...a.a..a
Now, MrsPolarbear, 2 thinga(no right or wrong) Hey! Bugs Bunny all those A-A's!!!!
You WON! and more hands than you lost!! How can that be bad? The more you
play, the better you get, right? I try to learn ALL the time and I bet you'll do better
every time you get A-A from now on, just thru experience, Now the other thing....
You married a polarbear?!?!?!?!............What were you thinking?!?!?!?!..........
LOL......... just playing! Have fun and Bugs Bunny ya'll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanx again to all for the input
This is great!
I have another little "Play" that I run into now and again and I would REALLY
like to hear ya'll's thoughts on this one.......it's KILLER!!!!!
