Default On the bubble in freerolls

It seems that every time you get on the bubble you get dealt a "sucker" hand, the last few times i have got dealt pocket kings and pushed on the button only to be called..., and lost both times to prety big underdogs...it seems like they want you to play conservative and earn your spot in the $...

I started playing when it was easy to deposit money on fulltilt, and I blew a few $50 bankrolls pretty quickly. Then they made it difficult to get money deposited, so I started playing freerolls, and I feel like my game has improved a lot. I'm inspired by the Ferguson challenge and am looking forward to building a nice bankroll with my freeroll winnings. I've placed in several, and have won from .06 cents, to around $16 or $17. I was slowly building, and was up to around $17 in my account just the other day, and decided I didn't have time to get in a tourney so I jumped on 3 cash tables, and within a few minutes, I was back down to 0.

So here we go again

Now I'm up to .48 and on the way back thanks to sites like this and others who offer freerolls

Wes

As I'm new to poker, I find that the freerolls give me a chance to try & learn the strategy of your position on the table and the cards you are dealt. The only drawback is trying to dodge the "all in" play by some of the very new players.

Or, am I mis-reading the play?

Is an "All-In" strategy such a none productive one, when the game first starts or is it the time to pickup some free antes?

Just an idle thought!

Default allin strategy may work for bulk freerollers

hi

welcome aboard and great to see new players getting involved in the forum - this is a great place to get tips and help from other more experienced players

I think that the all-in early strategy works for many what I think of as bulk freerollers ...

ie. players who pretty much only play freeroll and play them at many many sites

they are basically signed up at alot of different poker rooms and will play as many freerolls as they all offer

this way the strategy is to either double / treble / quadruple up early or bust out
which means they are either in a strong position or not wasting valuable time on a game that isnt going well when another one at another site is starting in a few minutes

this isnt really a bad strategy overall if you have 4 5 or more sites up and are registering for as many freerolls as possible - it's probably the only way to play freerolls in an overall profitable way

if however your using them to gain experience (nothing wrong with that) and only playing one or two freeroll at one or two sites - then you'll want to avoid this style of play and survive the all-in merchants to stay in

this is pretty much why freerolls are an all-in fest early on - those players are either complete loons or more likely bulk freeroll players who either want to get big stack early or move on to the umpteen other freerolls they are registered for

hope thats a help and good luck with your game

cheers scrawnybob

Default going all in in freerolls

what u said about freerolls rings true. at first I did concentrate on one freroll, and the all in donkey blues came. then I got to having multiple freerolls going, and I also was going all in, and when I got a stack, concentrating on that particular freeroll. after the early stages, it seems that the play became more important, and slowly I have been doing well with that. What I have been having a problem with is the late stages of the freeroll, where it seems there is a return of the all in mentality. or because of the big blinds.

Well .. the last comment is sad.

These sites do not control the damn cards people. They just deal em as they come up.

The fact that you would go all in, on the bubble, is even more sad. Thats a stupid play - and you lose - ya got what you had coming.

Also just FYI ... when you are on the bubble of the pay spots, guess what - everybody is on the bubble of the pay spots. Not just you. Somehow I doubt that everyone at the table is getting AA, AK, AQ, KK, QQ, JJ..... whatever.

oh ... and A{crap} is not that huge of an underdog to KK

You go all in with KK ten times ... and get called by one person all ten times that has A something ... you really have to expect to lose at least 3 of them.

If you have two callers each time, one with an Ace ... one with something else ... you should expect to lose half of them.

i think people play badly freerolls one for 1 point. they dont lose money! only time if they didnt won anything. its very easy to play all in everyhand because if u lose doesnt matter ( im taking to these players i am not included i tried to play tightly) but its very frustating that u are playing the best as u can and some idiot play all in with 23 and u call with qq and the flop its 456. to end i think people have to understand they were playing for money instead i know there are some other freeroll. but if u dont play well, u wont won anything

you can't leave it there tblaze, some clues would be useful.

I always divide the field into the money and concentrate on the best value FR.

700 entries for $200 = 28c

3000 for $5000=$1.66

I concentrate on the second one.
