Default Do you read them, thecards or the betting

I like the argument of online versus live but for me there is not a lot of difference. I like to read the betting patterns as opposed to my opponents; but is there a difference really? If I am grinny broadly and my posture is the same every hand, what can you read from that? Whereas the way someone is betting can give you the lot. Like the guy I was just playing who dropped his opening bet on a good hand and upped it on a sad hand, easy to pick. That was online and people keep telling me its different live. Yes I guess it is but being born lazy the computer is closer. (a joke) keep winning guys

Default read the player. the cards or the betting

    hi

I would say playing online as a base strategy you can -

read the players and their cards by studying their betting

in terms of online and offline tells - generally players give away alot about their hand by the way they bet - it may not be 100% but its alot more accurate than players would like to acknowledge

eg. someone holding a decent over pair will 9/10 bet at least the pot or more if their is a flush draw on the flop etc

this is text book play - if you know your playing a text book player who bets in certain ways in order to "not give them the right pot odds to call" you can then base how far behind you are with this

there are a whole load of other bets which generally suggest certain hands in certain situations

taking this and turning it round means you can convincingly represent hands by making the "correct" looking bets

    hope thats a help

    cheers scrawnybob

All of the above. Why choose one? you take into account everything you can and add it together to try to get the best possible outcome you can.
