i can never keep my bankroll intact, any feedback?
bankroll management is just as important as your game. conventional wisdom is to reduce risk and increase gain. let us say you have allocated $100 to play with for the next 3 months. $100 divided by 3 is $33 per month. $33 divided by 30 days is $1.10 per day. although this seems to be right, its actually wrong, even if you plan on playing everyday. if you only play the lower buy-ins, if youre lucky and place, your reward is minimal and risk is still there. you can't go gun-ho and think a few $10 will be better either. the goal is to find and try for the sweetest payouts with less competition while your skills are not making unforced early exits. a friend of mine plays $1 tournaments all the time for over a year. won a fair share and even placed quite high more than a couple of times. the resulting gain from all this trying wasnt even anywhere close to what my friend earned from one single $10 buy-in tourney (earned over $100). you dont have control over luck, but you choose the risk and your caution. winnings usually are divided by thirds. 1/3 kept away from use, 1/3 for spending, and 1/3 for gambling. for those who dont have as much money, one should keep 1/2 or more away, 1/2 for spending, and 1/2 for gambling in very careful increments. a few bad days and plays can make someone broke again.
