I 'd say about 20$, and just keep playing sit and go's with low buy-in

I think $1000.00US, pick a good site, I like fulltilt or iPoker network at the moment, Play $1.00 30 or 90 seat sit&goes, and read every thing possible on the net while you are waiting for a good hand.

Just my 10c on your question

Minimum.

Pokerstars lets you play with 20. Its how I started, and I turned it into a hundred the first day.

Good way to start.

Default minimum deposit

hi

I would say that you should work on the 20x rule as this seems to be the most consistent and safest approach

ie.

to play 5/10 cent cash games with a max table buy-in of $10 you should have a $200 bankroll (to tide you through the inevitable swings)

to play $10 SNG's x20 = $200 / $220

to play $5 SNG's = $110

no the thing here is that these are optimal bankrolls for low stakes games - IMHO there is nothing wrong with budgeting $200 but depositing this over a period of time if you run good you might not need to - but if you run bad or average then you will

so set aside $200 in your head and be prepared to deposit a few times

cheers scrawnybob

ps. for example I am doing 3 minimum deposit experiments - the Pacific and Titan ones are going ok but on the Bodog one I have hit a bad run and busted out

this isnt really a suprise and has nothing to do with a specific site - I would have expected this to happen at one of the 3 sites - normally I would deposit at least $200 for starting off at a new site

it's just that you cant expect to deposit under $200 and then have good run of cards all the time - which is pretty much what you need if your depositing say $20 it'sonly enough to max buy-in at a table twice or play 2or 4 SnG's which gives too much to luck and not enough to skill over time

yeah i think between 20 and 50$ would be a good amount to start with.

I highly recommend to take a lot of hours on freerolls and on the low limits table so u can appreciate how difficult is to win a little money.

And of course, bankroll management its the most important thing, having a good discipline and never playing over your own limits its the main difference between a winning player and a losing one.

Honestly you should try at least $50 cause $20 is too low even if you'll play low limit games.

I have changed my mind!

Put a Grand in Carbon and chill, play solid ABC holdem and Enjoy

Id say $200 is about right. Maily so you can take advantage of the deposit bonus. Although like Bob said you dont need to deposit your entire bankroll, as long as you dont mind reloading should you hit a cold streak.
