Tips needed

Been playing poker for about 7 months now ,and have qualified for a live tourney at Thorpe Park ,Cleethorpes UK about 500 players expected 10k first prize .Any advice would be much appreceated.

this is going to be easier said than done. but relax and enjoy.no sunglasses, dont drink too much before hand, and trust the hands you have. They will probably realize its your first game. dont sweat it. youll have the shakes youll be nervouse. but enjoy yourself. its a game .

OK no offence but I am in two minds whether I tell you any tips as in my mind you are the enemy, owing to the fact I could be playing this tournament.

So having said that and putting any ego I may or may not have I tell you this, with due respect to you asking:-

• Go the day before to the tournament venue, book a cheep hotel something like Ibis,

• 45 quid for a double room ( you and your Mrs ) go chill.

• Look inside the venue, look at the cards you will be playing with, and the chips and feel the chips!

• Stay in the venue and have a meal ( remember this is the day before)

• Every hour from zero -24 hours before drink 1 pint of tap water!

• zero – 24 play take 3x1g slow release Pharmaceutical grade Vitamin C ( this may give you the shits don’t panic)

• zero -24 Eat 6oz to 12 oz of pasta with protein, loose the fat, every 3 hours till zero-8hrs.

• zero -2 make sure you are in the venue fed and watered, shit, shaved and showered, ready to play, take a good poker book and re- read about starting hands, IGNOR any thing about tells in live play it will CerFuddle you swede! ( as in your head)

• You should also have Money chewing gum, smokes ( if you do)

• Make sure ( because this is going to be a very long tourney if you last ( if I play mate I hope your not there that long and I have your chips) see 11 below

• You are in kit you can sit down in i.e. no tight jeans, and you look descent in.

• Dump any kit that says where you come from, no football shirts, and dump any jewellery.

• Do not wear a WATCH.

• THE GAME: Before you do ANYTHING say what you going to do i.e. RAISE FOLD CALL, make sure you LOOK at the dealer before you say i.e. you are telling the dealer, It very easy to string bet in live play if you say what you are going to do there’s no mistake.

• Play Very Tight/Aggressive/Aggressive/Aggressive…and forget the word ALLIN!, pre flop!!!

• DO NOT DEFEND your BLINDS WITH SHIT!!!

• If you leave the table you hand will be void, so think about what you are doing.

• Do not talk to anybody! On you table except to say hi, don’t wish them good luck

• I bet 50 quid you go out with a mid or small pocket pair, forget playing 22,33,44,55 AUTO MUCK unless it’s a cheep flop AND don’t say I didn’t WARN YOU!

• Don’t get involved with the Deavilfish or bad beat Channing (if they are playing) in conversation off game!

• Tip the bird that brings coffee around.

• Finally if you get in the TOP 5 cut a deal if one is offered!!!

If you dont know some thing, ie how much to call,
(Try not to "minimum Raise the pot" it looks to trick and some one will take a punt at you,)

ASK the dealer!

the dealer HAS to tell YOU, dont be frightened of asking, usaly in the UK at this level the players are friendly till theres 4 tables left then they will eat you and your babes!

Because ( I hate starting a sentence with "Because" sorry all you English Teachers)

1:If you are wearing an expensive watch, and you play two or three weak starting hands, you will get more pros calling you, and not taking you seriously, you dont want multi way action in all the pots you play.( Live Tournament Play)

2: If you look at your watch and you are thinking about time ( live play can be very tiring and boring) you are not going to be thinking about the other players. Its also a tell ( looking at your watch) that you are getting tired.
If you havnt got one on you can't look.

3. Any jewellery is a tell of what type of person you are, a lot of Professionals do Psychological Profiling ( The Great Ones do) of fellow players, if "they" cant get an "angle" on YOU it makes it harder to out think you, note ( Not impossible just harder!)

Big Stones in rings CAN reflect the colour of the cards you have, depending on how you pick them up, not good if some one thinks you have 2 red cards and there a heart flush on the turn! ! !

Dont wear big stoned rings, I did warn you!
