I know i won the hand but I'm wondering if I should have played it a different way? Any help and constructive critiscm from more experienced players very welcome. Thanks!!
I think you should've raised on the flop. There are 4 players and if a jack or a queen comes you'll lose a great amount of chips which you don't want happen. So I think raising is the right move on the flip to eliminate sone of the players.
I may have read this wrong but you flopped the bottom end of a made straight flush ?
so I guess your thinking checking or else I get no action
the chances of getting beaten are very very remote - even with the jack they dont make a higher straight flush as you have the bottom card - so they would need the JdQd unlikely and I'm pretty sure they'd have raised with that before the flop
so what to do ?
personally any sign of anyone wanting a piece of this 3d flop I would pressure to get more momey out of them
maybe they have an ace d or a Jd or even a couple of other diamonds, maybe they have trips and want to cut the hand dead -
the guy before you raises - I would have done a straight default re-raise - I think on this hand which you would have expected to be dead - it's actually totally live - at least two players fancy their chances
think of big nuts hands (really they need BOTH the jack & Queento beat you) like fishing
you have to sit waiting for a bite - but hell if you get a bite you reel them in - not let them feed for free (or as good as free) - sometimes everyone has nothing and the fish get away but on this hand I'd have wanted to have all my money in by the river - no question
you would have taken out at least one player (this is a tournie) and probably two
cheers scrawnybob

thanks for the advice. it was the best hand I have ever had and to get it on the flop as well i was little shocked. Thanks for the advice again, so if i get a str8 flush again someone is goin out (hopefuly not me)
i would add that if you were the first to bet after the flop, a minimum raise often works wonders. if you check, players often smell a rat, but with a small raise you'll keep most in (depending on the blinds of course) and also give the chance for aggressive players to hang themselves when they come over the top. you see this a lot when you hit a flush on the flop, a minimum bet says i want to see another card for cheap. you'll be amazed how many players will come over the top, sometimes all-in, because they're sure you have nothing and just want to see an extra card !
Those hands are extrememly difficult to get paid with because there almost too good.
Personally I think you played it very well.
Then again with a made straight flush I know I wouldnt concive of being beaten. But to get payed. Now thats a diffferent story.
I agree. if you are trying to trap i would always go for a reraise on the turn. because if you get a call you can pus again on the river. if the other guy was drawing he would atleast acll the turn, while he can fold on the river or check.
