Sorry the update is a bit late but I've been working a load this week.
I got there with my friend about an hour early so we could guarentee that we'd entry to it seeing as there was a 72player max. However we needn't have worried seeing as there was only 60odd people in it. All the adverts I had seen for this tournie said it was a rookie tournie, but after about 5mins waiting to be let in to the card it became clear that it wasnt full of rookies. My friend started at a table with 3 guys who had been at the final table at the festival 2weeks previously. I also didn't realise that it was unlimited re-buy either.
I had never played a re-buy game so when half of th table went all-in i folded my QJoff thinking that even if they didnt hit i would be beat by AorK high or even pockets. But imagine what I was thinkin wen the flop came Q,J,Q. In my first i could have quadrupled up. But all was not lost when i noticed 2of the players going all in with hands like 10,4 off etc, so I manged to build up some chips as there was only one other player at the table that was worth worrying about, but i manged to get to chop his stack when he slow played his pockets 9's while i was in BB and my J,6 hit on on the flop.
So the first break comes and I am becoming more and more confident, I'm chip leader at my table 3rd overall. After the break our table gets collapsed and I move table and win a few pots. But the turning point of my whole night comes when I call someones all in from BB with QQ, he turns of A8spades. Flop comes A,Q,4, with only one spade on the board(the 4). So i think i'm in good stead for this hand and to knock this person out, but the runner runner flush comes my head drops, a sigh from the table and he doubles up. What made it worse was the cocky little grin on his face as i looked over at him.
I remember sitting back in my chair thinking to myself, 'Ok now, its only one hand, your doing ok, you've still got chips dont go on tilt'. did it work???? errr No. For a few rounds I see nothing in the hole, but I manage to steal some blinds from position. When, while on the button, I get K8 suited. Its folded round to me so I try and steal again but get a caller fromBB. The flop comes K,Q,8. So i bet 2x BB and he calls, turn comes a 2, I bet again and he raises. I call and we see the river. The river comes an another 9. I think for a bit and bet he then raises me all-in so I call with my 2pair. I turn them over thinking they'll be good but he turns over pocket 2s. I coudnt believe it, I stood up walked away playing the hand over in my head. I was gutted!!
As i was driving home I began thinking that it may have actually been the best £5 i had spent on poker. While everyone else was re-buying I didnt have to, I had enough chips not to worry about the add-on, and despite 2hands that i got unlucky I played well I think, and the experience I gained and the little things I learned have made my online game better and had improved my account on the 2sites I have atm. But one thing is for sure, I am goin back and I certainly feel I am good enough to cash at the tournie.
