    Smile Hello from a beginner!

Coming from a chess amateur background, I have been interested in playing poker in the last few years. However, the fad effect among other chess players frightened me away a bit from the game. Now being financially independent I begun playing more seriously last week, and I love it.

I am playing... rather practicing... with play money for now. I have even begun playing in SnG low-limit tournaments (still with free money) tonight. Result: I have won a 5th place at my first try, and a 4th place at a later tourney by laying low, folding lesser hands, playing good hands and having lesser stacked opponents get busted before me.

Still, I'd be interested to play with real money when I feel ready, but from what I read it seems like I'd need a big starting bankroll. Perhaps in due time I'll ask where I could begin.

So, I wanted to say hello.

My advise would be to pick one of the poker rooms that we play our league games at and deposit the minimum deposit, atleast. Playing with play chips does not really help you, in my opionion, because players have nothing to lose. At your chosen poker room play SNG(low limit). I feel that you will get lots of experience for little investement. You would also benefit from playing in our games on Thursdays and Sundays.

Welcome to the forum. Looking forward to seeing you at the games

I agree with jeffsbabe, play money doesn't help your game all that much... Too many people push all-in for no reason, or because they're bored... People will call with next-to-nothing because they don't care, no money's riding on the game...

Find a place that has cheap STTs and learn there... Like bodog; it has $2.20 single-table tournaments (10 players) and the top five players payout... It's a good start...

i strongly adivse AGAINST playing on the play money tables for practice... just go str8 to real money, u will lose a little bit at first, but the adjustment from play money to real money would be wayy too hard...

Is it better to play with real money the same way you do as play?

    Default Full tilt

Has anyone seen freerolls on full tilt that doesn't have like 5000 people playing for 5 bucks??
