Every little bit helps, and i have noticed the same thing before and after breaks. Not only can u pick up a blind, but I think the first hand after a break has amazingly goofy play, due to people rushing back to the computer from thier cig/bathroom/whatever. they sit down in a rush and make snap judgements and aren't really back in a zone yet.

The only player who don't like this move are low stacked players trying to bluff big stacks out of chips just let the small stacks eliminate each other

Poker's a game of skill not a public rant
While I agree it is a players right,it becomes an issue for me when 2 or 3 players sitting in a row are all sitting out. When the blinds come to the sitters, the last live player before them has a advantage. Obviously they haven't cordinated their sitting, and I have used it to my advantage, but it's annoying when it's happening on the opposite side of the table.
Personally I am annoyed by sitouts in any game, but sometimes you are forced to sitout for a short time.
Yesterday I took a sitout the first 30 minutes, just because i wasnt present at the time.
But if you are playing a game that last 4-5 hours to finish, and you are doing rather well I dont see any moral problems by sitting out, whether for tactical reasons or "break" reasons.
If you are doing well in a tournament like Sunday Hundred Grand a tactical break for half an hour isnt that expensive on your stack

Players sitting out in tourneys can be very annoying, especially after breaks. I can't blame some players if they are tired or mentally not there. What erks me the most is players sitting out trying to coast to the money or other prize. Make the most of these situations and see if you can exploit them.
I have mixed feelings about sitting out to get in the money. I'd be tempted to do it if I were chip leader or had a huge stack from some early donks doubling me up. It makes sense to do it and not take the risk of playing a good hand yet still losing to some bad beats. It doesn't really irritate me because having one less big stack pushing me around is good. I won't be forced to put a lot of chips in to see a flop or things like that.
In my opinion there is NOTHING wrong with sitting out as a chip leader, as it has nothing to do with poker ettiquette. There's one question you need to ask yourself... let's face it, are you playing poker to win money or are you playing to chat with people?
If you have a big enough chip advantage and are able to sit out and cash where you would like to cash (especially if the field starts to get tought), it's a very valid strategy!

Yep. This is what it really boils down to for me. But most of the time even when I sit out I'm usually just watching TV in the background while still watching the betting habits of the players. I throw away some big pairs occasionally like this, but it allows me to really get in some analysis before the late game begins.
at the end of the day if u pay into a tourney and u sit out thats ur right its just the same as playing but folding every hand no pokersite will stop this as they will tell u its upto the player who is doing it
