Well 'm certainly learning a lot about my game. With the warm weather comes more work {I'm self employed so I gotta make $ while weather cooperates} Plus school is out for summer and my niece is spending 3-4 nights a week with me. My bro works nights and I'm pretty tight with my niece. She plays with the neighborhood kids but will invariably want me for something while I'm in the middle of a tourney. I'm definitely not putting her off for poker, so my game is really changing. Either i start late, or I know I won't have time to finish, so I'm getting much more aggressive. Sometimes this is good, sometimes not. I've only cashed in a few freerolls lately. On one, I had almost blinded out by the time I got to the table, I only played 4-5 hands, but doubled or tripled up on most of those. Then I sat out for rest of tourney. When I checked later, I had cashed lol. Maybe I should play that way more often. My other cash was a long grind. A few doubles, but mostly small pots
What i'm finding is that what seems to work best for me is to let the game dictate how I play. If I decide beforehand that I'll play tight or aggressive, on the tourneys where I know I'll have time to play, it doesn't work. It makes me nuts to watch hands go by when I decided to play tight and had the best hand. It also makes no sense to be aggressive just to be aggressive. I steal some pots, but eventually someone simply has the best hand and won't go away. So I'm trying to let the flow of the game dictate my play for me and also trying to not be predictable.
Another thing I've learned is that I'm not good at playing more than 1 tourney at a time. I'm better when I pay attention to the other players, although sometimes I shift tables so much, that doesn't matter either. I'll be playing 2 tonight at the same time so we'll see how it goes.
**Niece is grounded so I can play from start to finish **

I apologize to any and all who have seen my play as "Donkey" lately. If you read the above post, you'll understand where most of it is coming from. As for the rest of it, sometimes I just have a brain fart.

I'm being pretty conservative with my free $. I've played a few $1 tourneys, but didn't cash. Played 1 heads-up match which I won. Am playing 05/10 blind ring games and am doing well overall. I was up by a few bucks till a little bit ago when my trip J's got sucked out on. So at this point I'm only down $2, which is OK considering I lost more than $4 on the J's. I still haven't sat down for a lengthy ring game. When I get up a bit, I leave the table. I expect to be able to get more of a feel, and be more consistent, the more I play. Now that I have some in my account, I'm not playing like I'm playing with the rent money. I don't know if this is really a help or not, but I look for specific types of tables. I look for tables where all players are within the $4 buy in range, or at least close. I try to avoid tables where there are 1 or 2 players with big stacks. We'll see how it goes.

I am curious as to what the etiquette is concerning foreign language speech. I'm encountering it mostly on Carbon and then it mostly seems to be Romanians. I don't have any reason to think the conversation is about hands, though I don't know for sure, and sometimes it contains numbers. If I was playing on a site where I was the minority language, I might well want to speak english with the few there. I usually just turn off the chat whenever something comes up that might distract me, whether foreign or trash talk. Am I just being paranoid? Is there etiquette involving this?

Good to see that you are taking a play by play approach to your game. It's the best way to play because you have no idea what will happen at your table until play actually begins. As far as foreign languages, I feel that it's not good etiquette to speak a different language at the table than the normal language.

Well the $18 I started the day with is now $24. Some play I'm really happy with, some I just had the cards, and of course some luck. Most important, I think, is that I avoided the bad plays.***Hate to see my niece grounded, but this is the first weeknight I've been able to play in a while*** I won't be playing everyday, but I'll try to keep a running total here so I can track my own progress if for no other reason.
