A good 'General Starter' for NL Holdem is Phil Gordon's Little Green book. Light and entertaining it has it all, a bit of theory, situational play, psychology, math, starting hands and percentages.

Full of little tips, lots of which you'll remember at the table in the beginning due to the imaginative way in which it is written,

Something you can pick up for 5 mins and learn something from.

For those who have played for a while and can put the basics into practice, the Harrington Series is the next logical step for tournament players. Very analytical, but for the right mind a treasure.

As has been said by other members, these are only some of the many tiltes out there, Readin g any poker related material should and generally does stimulate thinking and alternative views or ways of playing.

These are the 2 titles I 'got' the most from. Buy and try, I'm sure you'll get more than your money 's worth.

I'd start off with Phil Hellmuth's "Play Poker Like the Pros". I read it for fun about two years ago and still have a copy if you would like it.

I have Poker for Dummies it is a good book, but has to much basic stuff and not enough for higher level player. Its more of a beginners book I guess.

For higher level reading, look up David Sklansky's poker theory books for advanced play. Also, the Super System books if you haven't read them already.

Arnold Snyder books are very good.

    How to beat pokerrooms.

And of course, Doyle's Supersystem books are the best pokerbooks.
