I have been reading Play Like The Pros by Phil Hellmuth. I am only about half way through but I have been enjoying it so far. I just got to the NLH Tourney strategy section and I am looking forward to seeing what it has to offer. I was tempted to skip right to it but then decided to be good and read it cover to cover.
He breaks down all the different types of players into different animal types like the Mouse that plays super tight and the Elephant that calls everything. I have already started using this when I sit at the table. He also breaks down several different strategies into easy to understand terms and tells how far you should take each strategy depending on your experience.
There is very little math which for me is good and it is extremely approachable. I do plan on reading other books like the Super System eventually but it just seemed so daunting for my 1st one.

Gotta go with Play Poker Like the Pros by Phil Hellmuth and The Little Green Book by Phil Gordon if you are just starting to play no limit hold em. For more advanced players, Super Systems 1 and 2 along with Ace on the River by Barry Greenstein and any of David Sklansky's poker theories books.

Any good books or DvD recommended for learning poker. There are like 3 million out there.
If you are just starting out and want to learn how to play hold em and know nothing about poker, then Sklanksy has some good beginners books on hold em, I think they are just called hold em poker and hold em poker for advanced players, you could start with those.
If you already understand the basics of hold em and want to play multi table tournaments, then Harrington on Hold Em series is a must. I also like Kill Everyone. You should probably also read sklansky's Tournament Poker for Advanced Players, there are some concepts in there that you should understand.
If you want to play Sit N Gos, Colin Moshman has a SnG strategy book that is pretty good.
Personally, I don't find poker videos to be helpful. lol
There are many good books out there written by Dan Harrington, David Sklansky, Ray Zee, Phil Hellmuth, etc. There is also The Full Tilt Poker Strategy Guide.
Good Luck!

Poker Books,.... can't seem to get enough of them.
Depends upon what you're looking for.
If it's to get acquainted with the basics of NLHE play, there are lots of good books out there. When reading (as many of the books suggest) work at adopting your own personal style of play (you might find reading books like Super System actually may mess with your game a bit, instead of improving upon it,.. and not really a book to read if you're looking for something written by some with decent writing (sort of like what I just wrote here, lol).
Phil Gordon's books 'The Little Green Book' and 'The Little Blue Book' are both great reads (and well-written). Phil takes you into his thought process as he plays out a bunch of hand examples, explaining different types of strategy techniques along the way.
For Tournament-style NLHE, The Harrington on Holdem Series is a must read and know need to look further (unless you also become a poker book addict). These books cover all kinds of stuff in them and one's game will improve dramatically if they're carefully studied.
Harrington on Holdem Vol.1
Harrington on Holdem Vol.2
(Harrington on Holdem Vol.3 ---- the workbook, 50 hand selections in quiz format to help one discover one's own leaks in their game).
I personally have a bit of a poker book collection but I would suggest trying to loan them through your library on an 'inter-library loan'. Then... if you really like it, you could consider purchasing it (I also bought a handful of poker books that I wished I hadn't, lol,... especially Phil Helmuth's books,.... I've actually read them all, even after purchasing one when I wished I hadn't afterwards once I'd read other books).
Beyond poker strategy there are also many other good books out there, ie. 'Poker Mindset', 'Thao of Poker', 'Zen and the Art of Poker',.. etc.... topics incl., looking into why we choose the syle we do when playing poker, how that affects our game, etc. Some players biggest leaks (myself FOR SURE!!!.... ie. "I'm gonna get that guy!!!", lol.. .letting play from a previous hand influence my style somewhat negatively in hands to follow, and quite often not even realizing it).
Couldn't tell ya what DVD's to check out,... .I don't own any.
For other games aside from NLHE or for cash game play in NLHE,.. tons of other books out there as you've obviously discovered.
I have always used experance as my teacher. I think if you want to improve your skill, at poker or anyother game, go to play money tables and practise once you have played enough try sitngo tounerys. sitngo is a great way to get the feel of final table and you
learn to play harder by the constant battle on sitngo.
