Thread: Fold a Good Hand

  1. #1

    Default Fold a Good Hand

i know its tough and we all want to call that good hand... but if your not confident it will get you anywhere and you dont think you will catch anything let it go...say you have 88 in your hand and 3 aces come on the flop that gives you a full house and its tough to fold one but chances are your 8s will get beat with somethin higher on the turn or river.. but if nobody is bettin throw a small bet out there to see what happens!

I'm learning to drop my premium hands when don't improve it after the flop and someone show some kind of strength. Of course depends of the moment, the image of the other player, your position, etc, but a few time ago it was difficult to me drop As and yesterday I droped a couple of times without any problem in cash tables and finally was the right decision.

In the other side, I droped Qs against a player that I didn't have any read, because he reraised me preflop and another player call. Were three in the hand and the flop cames two low cards and a J. First player checked, I did too and the player that reraised me do a strong c-bet that the other player call, so I folded my queens there, because had a bad feeling.
An A appear in the turn and I felt happy about my lay down, because thought that someone have an A... Well, nobody hadn't... The reraiser muck his hand when the other player showed J3o (only pair of J), so he didn't have an A, KK or QQ, so he reraised me with KQ, TT or a lower pocket but in position and I didn't have a read about him and worked for him.

Learn lo lay down premium hands is in my opinion a real important factor in the grew like a poker player.

i use history all the time to check opponents mucked hand...unbelievable the crap i've seen. (and the people deny it...they don't realize i guess , that when they muck the whole table can check out there cards.) merge network is the easiest to sort out.

Talking about that... Doeas anybody know a program that reads Merge Network hands?
I want at least a program that can allow me to friendly browse and replay Merge Network hands.

How is this for a laydown.

I had pocket AAs and had raised heavily pre flop which he called. the flop came up AKK

I bet the size of the pot he raised me, so I called.

I minimum bet the turn which was a rag, he called.

The river was a rag, so I minimum bet which he raised all in.

    I laid it down...

We both showed our hands and he had pocket Ks

Being able to lay it down is a very important thing to learn. You are only profitable if you can maximize your wins and minimize your losses.
