Like said most sites require a deposit to ensure that you are not an off-shore account or some other dodgy dealing is going on.
If the site does not require a deposit then thye will almost definately require you to play a certain amount of raked hands.
Contact the site and ask as every network has different rules.

on some sites a deposit is not necessary prior to withdrawing funds... nor do you need to earn player pts. (I believe both Pokerstars and Fulltilt don't have these requirements which would give them a huge plus). I have heard of many other sites where it's near impossible to take $$ off the site (freeroll winnings) which would almost make it be like playing with 'play money'. I was fortunate enough to read a post in a forum, stating this info. so did some research before playing umpteen hrs. of freerolls online, in hopes of getting 'free money' while having fun.

There is usually a min. amount you must withdrawl when putting in a withdrawl request. Varies from site to site. Why not just contact support at the site you're playing on? Then if you have questions in regards to their reply, be specific about what site it is and then you could ask others what their experience has been with that site. Just an idea.

    Wink

hee hee hee... I think you must've mistaken what I mentioned in the chat on the final table there James (maybe due to how your own perception may have clouded the thought process).
Actually.. YES,.. I did donk off my chips to ya and was tilting due to probably laying down the best hand a few times in a row (one time FOR SURE when I saw later that the player was calling flop pot bets w air,.. had top pr. and str. dr. but wasn't ready to committ all the majority of my stack in case he had actually limped w a bg overpr. preflop.. which would've also been a poor play from the pos. he would've made it from.. but could see no other reason for him 3-betting my flop bet).
I get frustrated at times playing in tourneys with novices as they have a HUGE tendancy to wayyyy overvalue their hands, bet in nonsensical ways (probably the thing that works best to their advantage) and call off all their chips w weak, bet pot on the flop w air, not understand generally what it could or would mean when someone 3-bets their raise, etc. AND for sure it's my biggest leak (so usually don't play in those types of games,.. but have here for the past couple of weeks and enjoy some of the members for sure!!)
So... having gotten fed up,.. yup,.. I think I did myself a favour and donked off my chips to ya (I know you appreciated it at the time anyways).
ROI this and ROI that.... James... even if you've never deposited to a site, you're still running with an ROI (from freeroll winnning or what have you... ROI is not based on 'total profit' in one's online poker account.... it is return on investment,... what you bring in from what you put out).
Not to pat myself too hard on the back here (at least not hard enough to leave large red welts), but actually James,.. I for sure have deposited onto some sites (3 in fact). For myself, I don't consider a poker bankroll of anything under $500 to be ample to even play on the buy-ins I prefer to play in (the types of games I enjoy the challenge of but at the same time feel that I can beat,.. I don't just play for money... far from it). I do also happen to have in excess of $3,000 on the sites currently,.. so your comment here is just a bit ridiculous. Do some homework... figure it out,.. then come back at me. On OPR I'm also currently ranked in the top 3% of allof Fulltilt for 2008 (Fulltilt is over $2g's with an mtt roi close to +300%). What's yours? (I know... do you?).
Good day James (maybe focus on learning the game... could take ya far... maybe!

Nice stats Yeah I know mine and they ain't as good as yours but then again, I don't play as much. I don't need the money...the pleasure and success is what I'm in it for.

I could play play chips for the rest of my days...it really wouldn't make a difference to me.

There's a tip for a beginner in this.....if you think you love the game, play play chips for a year before doing anything else...it'll make you look like a donk and you'll know whether the game is right for you.

Then go sit down with the big boys

Money and bankrolls are only a distraction in the early stages of your poker career.

I just play smaller tournys, not worried about taking the money out, every site has different requirments. some make it harder then others.
