HI scrawnybob, how many runners do you normally get for these tourneys?
Can you confirm that Bodog is based on raked hands and not contributed rake. If so i'll sign up and give bodog a go! ty Adrian

WOW. A 100k guaranteed tournament? That doesn't even seem feasible for a site to make any money off of? How does that work for bodog? If the buy-in is 100+9 how do they cover the cost of the 100k pot? How many people usually play in the 100k guaranteed?

    Default guaranteed tournaments & overlays

    hi

all sites generally run guaranteed tournaments - as people then know the miniumum that will be up for grabs

some sites will have more than enough signup and buy-in to play like pokerstars and fulltilt where the gauranteed prize pool is exceed ... in that case you get what you pay for

with other sites - they run these games at a nominal lose to attract more players and encourage existing players to get more involved in the tournaments ...

effectively they dont get enough buy-ins to cover the guaranteed prize pool ...

    this is called an overlay

ie. the difference between your buy-in / total buy-ins v the actual bigger prize pool

Bodog 100K is currently somewhere around a 30% overlay

these are exactly the sorts of games ALL our members should be looking out for ... if you only have 100 entries and the prize pool is 130x the buy-in then clearly you are getting alot more value for your buy-in in these games

This is why I have always said playing at the medium and medium small sites offers a great potential for players ... not only on the overlay side but also on player competition

if you are a regular tournament player ... why play the over subscribed games when you could get alot more bang for your buck
