Bodog Review
Bodog is a fun medium sized online poker room with many soft games at all stakes.
The company was founded in 1995 by Calvin Ayre, who is this super cool Canadian guy living an extravagant lifestyle now. What is probably most impressive about his story is the fact that he turned a $10,000 investment into this (at the time) online casino and sports book and parlayed it all the way to the billion dollar company Bodog is today.
Bodog after much success in the casino and sports book industry added Bodog Poker back in 2004. I remember when this site first launched being blown away at how soft the games were. There was one player named something like Accra (not sure the exact name) who was supposedly the big dog amongst the 30-40 regulars the site had. I guess he was considered the bankroll this guy had intimidated the rest of the regulars (who were extremely weak) because this guy had no poker skill what so ever. I took over $10G off Accra alone (he’s probably going to want revenge if he reads this) during my first few months at Bodog.
Things have only changed for the better at Bodog since 2004. Today a high number of Big Dog players with limit poker skills and massive bankrolls still play at the site. The software is very nice (was just updated early 2006, the new version is called Bodog 2.0).
The SNG and Heads up tournaments are still very week.
Bodog attracts the gambling it up type Sports players, many who just pick a side, the don’t research games or shop lines, they just go with what there gut tells them and Bet on a team. These types often need more action while watching a game and wander over (click on over to is more like it) to the Bodog Poker room.
Bodog also attracts players through their aggressive media campaigns, as well as recently their poker televised series: “Calvin Ayre’s Wild Card Poker” which aired on FSN.
Bodog offers a 10% bonus on all deposits – This is one of the easier to clear bonuses in the industry. Another nice thing is players are credited with the bonus right away, if they go bust they never have to worry about clearing it and can start over.
Hmm a good strategy for tournament players is to deposit only the amount you plan to play on your first round of tournaments. If you hit a cold streak deposit more and get another bonus
.
Anyways I really like Bodog, a couple other things I can mention:
Bodog is endorsed by: David “The porn star” Williams (lol), Evelyn Ng, and Josh Arieh.
The site has a fair number of promotions including a tournament leader board.
Player can earn poker points which are good for freeroll entries or can be used to play a step system towards qualifying for either a WSOP or WPT seat.
One downside is unfortunately BoDog does not accept Canadian accounts and it is not very likely they will at any point in the future.

I like
I like the decent blind structure on Bodog- it gives the donkfish less of a chance to fluke victory.

Donkish Flukes
How long have you been playing at bodog? Apparently not long enough to see that these people seem to thrive at this site. I don't think blind structure has a whole lot to do with how people can suckout or make bad calls.

Long time
How long have you been playing poker? Apparently not very long. Seems though you don't understand the long term. Donks will never win in the long run. And of course long levels and low blinds make a difference. This exposes bad play. The longer good players are at the same table with bad players the more inevitable it is they will end up with the chips.

I agree with pokerme you can't just sit down at a table for 10 minutes in hopes of walking away with more than you sat down with.... In the long run you will get the donks money because they will continously make bad calls. When did you start playing exactly?FullTiltPoker Screename - FortMyersDrew A
