I thought it might be useful to give a short introduction about the aims of 4kingpoker.com and myself scrawnybob the webmaster.
About Scrawnybob
I have been a freelance editorial photographer for the last 9 years and always worked in photography since my first job - Including work for local & national newspapers, magazines in the UK and over much of the world.
I got the poker bug a few years ago, playing online and in home games and I decided to start 4kingpoker poker forum a couple of years ago as a evening hobby just to see what it could become.
As things have grown I've found it needs more and more of my time and although its still very much a hobby 4kingpoker has become something of a full-time project.
Aiming to build it into the friendliest poker forum online with some of the best resources for poker information and honest poker site reviews online.
About the Online Poker Industry
First to clarify why there are any poker resources on the internet - All poker sites & poker forums on the internet are run for profit (at the very least to cover staff costs etc) - even the ones that seem very homegrown rely on advertising revenue (poker site ads) or affiliate income (from deposits through banners / links).
Most sites don't want to make a big thing or mention this - But we are upfront and honest about it
Affiliates make money when players sign up and deposit using their banners or links -
These are found in our list of over 30 recommended
poker site reviews and in each individual site review
This doesn't cost you the player anything EVER - Commissions come directly from the poker sites profits
Doesn't this makes reviews 4kingpoker's site reviews biased ?
NO unlike other sites who will rank sites higher if THEY get more comission - 4kingpoker will NEVER rank sites based on what we get out of it
We ONLY rank sites on what they offer you as a player - and our honest opinion of the site for its bonus, features & software etc
If a site gives us a better player bonus package to offer our players signing up through us then we will rank it better because it becomes a better offer for YOU THE PLAYER.
As an affiliate for over 30 poker sites - 4kingpoker is often able to get our players better bonuses than the standard offer direct at the sites.
Please consider signing up via our links rather than direct to a site or via another affiliate as this enables us to add more prize money & tournaments for members and visitors.
Even if you are only a play money or freeroll player please register at sites / download the software through our links as this helps when we request more tournaments at these poker sites for our members.
Affiliates get paid (depending on the poker site) for introducing a player to a site (Only when they deposit) - either a one off fee or an ongoing small percentage of the poker sites rake - All players who register through us (even play money) will be tracked as being introduced by us - Even though this doesnt mean we get paid anything at that stage.
It is important that members realise that it is the affiliate who first introduced a player to a site (ie. when they click on a link / banner or got them to download the software and register using their link or banner) that is linked to that player - This is important as our bonuses / offers are only open for players we introduce to the sites - so if you sign up or click links to a site via another forum you may miss out on our best offers and bonuses

4kingpoker.com is a bit of a labour of love for me - and something I had planned to do 2+ yrs before I did but hadn't got the time - I it will make a bit of money to pay me for some of the time spent building and maintaining the site and running tournaments.
if I was just about money I probably wouldn't have tried to launch the site with the increased competition and big commitment in time & investment - But I love poker and 4kingpoker seemed the perfect way to try and combine business and pleasure.
I run our
poker tournaments etc so that members have something free, fun and something to bring a community together.
If occasionally people sign-up and deposit at sites through our
Poker Site Reviews at 4kingpoker then great - This keep things going and hopefully the more we grow the better the site gets for everyone and the more I can put into it.

But to me the thing that will hopefully create some loyalty to the forum is the fact that I care, I try to help people out and unlike alot of other sites I'm not just in it for the money and I really want to create a great poker resource for players and a friendly poker forum -
So many of them seem to be either too serious or down right aggressive - the table is the place for aggressive IMHO and I want to make 4kingpoker that friendly forum you've been looking for.
Hopefully this will get more people to join - more members to tell their friends - more members to put bumper stickers on their cars - more people to become more involved as more things are happening - if then I get some more depositing players through my banners then great.
Above all I want to keep everything pretty much free and then the rest is up to you the members -

The big problem is so
many players have already picked up "aff code" from other sites without meaning to so even going through our banners isn't 100%
So please visit / download sites through 4kingpoker first ;-)
Even if members don't want to deposit at sites we promote / review - There are plenty of things members can do to help make us grow if you like the site -
• Tell your friends in the pub / email our newsletter on to friends.
• Tell players you know about the tournaments - even existing players at sites we feature.
• Take part in our tournaments - especially the buy-in tournaments.
• Put a bumper sticker on your car - PM me if you haven't got one.
• Link to the 4kingpoker from your blog or website - PM me and I can advise / poss swap.
• Check out all of the site and explore - there is more stuff on the site and growing all the time - articles / online tournament & freeroll finder / poker tv / poker news & promotions.
• Post on and enjoy the forum and get things buzzing - if you use other forums but like us more then ask your questions / post thoughts / suggestions on 4kingpoker or post on both and get more feedback.

I will try to answer as helpfully as I can, and if I don't know I'll find out.
The only thing that does depress me on running the site is when people are rude or impolite - Either to other members or things like rudely ordering me to send passwords etc
But apart from that I just want to build the friendliest poker forum on the net and then hope everyone comes to us in preference to other sites.
If 4kingpoker.com becomes something everyone enjoys, values &
wants to be a part of then that will be a reward in itself
