I'm very impressed with the Full Tilt Poker Academy!

Having completed 12 of the 'sit and learn' challenges so far I would say that they are most helpful in fine tuning ones game.
I also like the way they throw in quite a tricky question now and again..boy have I got emotional once or twice

I'm a little puzzled/wary about the 'pro challenges'...has anyone tried any of these yet?

I've been doing a few of the pro challenges for a bit of fun, have to say they are helping my cash game some. But then it needed a large amount of help

Some of the challenges are I think just there to help build Fulltilts rake. one of them has you raising by different amounts depending on position. 2xbb in early, 2.5xbb in middle and 3xbb in late, which may be fine at levels where a raise is respected a little but in micro games it's just a joke. When you raise 2xbb in early position with AA the whole table calls, then your up against 8 players with AA lol suck out central.

But overall it's helped my cash game a little you just have to adapt what they are saying to the level you play at. Which is pretty much what poker is about anyway.

I missed this post, I will have to give it a try. I don't know anyone's game that could not use a boost (unless you are a winning pro). I think the better players here will benefit the most as some fine tuning could make all the difference in bigger wins.

    Cheers for the feedback.

The main reason I haven't tried the pro challenges is my understanding of how it works.

How do they know that you have fulfilled the given tasks?
(Does Jesus come to your table to make sure that you've raised 2xbb in early position etc.?)

nope they have some sort of back end program that reports your play back to the Academy software. It takes up to an hour or so then it shows on a chart on your academy home page. It seems OK I think it's missed me on a couple of tasks but it's bound to have the odd bug in it to iron out. Lets face it if it was programmed by microsoft it wouldn't work for at least 10 years

    That is most interesting!
    (Yes...I wikipedia'ed 'back end program' )

Hmmm..I can't shake the feeling that this Training Academy is going to help level the playing field between the sharks and fishies out there.
