Is it a problem to welcome new members in the intrduction forum? What I mean is that when they make their intro post, can I use the qoute button to welcome the to the forum? Thanks

    Default yes and no

    hi

general note to all as this is a good topic to clarify asap

YES - very active 50+ members can post in the the intro section - BUT ONLY IF they can actually add something useful to it by welcoming specific members with something specifically useful or postive

Also existing members must only post replies in the country sections - NOT individual intro posts - as they should have been put in the country sections only in the first place ;-)

NO - existing members CANNOT try to buck the new rules by just posting a load of "welcome to the forum" posts which add little to the forum ... if members with less than 50 posts can act responsibly posting decent welcoming posts in intro section then fine - but post at your own risk / use common sense

if existing members act like morons trying to get easy posts for passwords they will get the same treatment as a new member making cr*p posts - they get deleted and the member may get banned

new members can only post their intro ONCE in the intro section - any other posts will get deleted together with anything else that does fit our 10+ quality post rules

hope thats a help - and a good thing to bring up to clarify

    cheers scrawnybob

    Default What an answer

Hello Scrawnybob, That certainly answers my question and thanks for putting it out there for members to revert to. Just a question for ya, how does a member know if they have reached the post count needed to be active??

Default members post count is in the top right of all their posts

    hi

members post count is in the top right of all their posts

also in that top right corner of posts is ...

reputation (scales) - members with 50+ posts can vote on quality of members posts

report post (red and white triangle) - ALL member can use this to report a post or a member for me to look at their post or posting quality generally & also flag up spam / dubious links etc

a members reputation level can be seen with the small green block (as members use the rep system more members will get a better or worse rep and get more green blocks eventually) or if its a grey block then it means some negative votes for that members posts or if it goes red then quite alot of members have voted negatively on their posts

    hope thats a help

BTW on the welcoming / replying to intro posts - Is really down to common sense - If an existing inactive member suddenly makes 10 short hi & welcome posts - then obviously I'll take a dim view of it ...

however if members occasionally post in there a bit making new members feel welcome or helping out with a question or encouraging them ... then this will be viewed as a postive thing for the forum - and therefore fine ... comes back to the common sense thing

I'm NOT on a mission to ban or delete lots of posts etc on a whim or "catch out" inactive members getting back into posting because of the new rules - I just want to get the forum back on track as active, positive and interesting place to post, read and make our tournaments and leagues a better and more rewarding games for those members who are active ;-)

    cheers scrawnybob

That totally makes sense. Although, I'm not very active poster myself, but I think you created a fair rules for your site and I hope to be little bit more proactive here. Thank you.
