Stargate Universe Series

Tonight was the final episode of Stargate Atlantis on the Sci-Fi channel. Being a sci-fi junkie, I was already having withdrawal when a commercial came on advertising the new show, "Stargate Universe." I was excited to hear that I wouldn't have to wait too long for a new Stargate series.

Stargate Universe is expanding exploration. It seems a Stargate team is sent through the gate using a ninth chevron. They find some kind of crazy spaceship that had been built by the Ancients to spread new gates throughout the universes. The Ancients never finished it before they ascended and it was left abandoned. So, of course the Stargate team decides to take off in it and can't get back to Earth. They just keep jumping from universe to universe and can't backtrack.

The writers for the previous Stargate shows are also writing for Universe, so I'm sure this series will prove to be as good the other Stargate series and I am really looking forward to it.

That's great news. Sounds a little like Stargate meets Sliders (a SF series from some years back. The gang couldn't get back to their earth, but instead visited a new earthly world each week.) I never missed Sliders so I'm sure SG Universe will be on my recorder.

oh wow i didn't know atlantis was ending! so what happened?? the next one sounds cool also, any returning cast? or all new people?

Oh I remember Sliders. That was one of my favorites back then. I was just watching some reruns of it not too long ago. I love shows with new worlds to explore, new species..etc. I've read tons of Science Fiction/Fantasy series too.

As far as the new Stargate Universe series, I don't think there will be any main characters from the other Stargates. I believe that some of them will be making an appearance in the 2 hour pilot show, from what I've read so far. I read that the producers wanted the show to be fresh..a sort of Stargate for the next generation kinda thing. All new stuff to appeal to old Stargate fans and new science fiction lovers alike.

I've always said that I loved the Stargate writers. They have had some really good shows that make me wanting more. That's why I was pretty upset to hear that Altantis was ending. It was a great surprise when the commercial came on immediately advertising Universe.

Anybody watching Sanctuary with Amanda Tapping (Sam on the Stargate series)? It's not as good as the stargate shows, but some of them are interesting. It's a totally different premise. Sherlock Holmes, Jack the Ripper and various other characters are part of the show. From the web site:

Cool, I did not expect a new Stargate so quickly either. Good to see that they are getting right back into it.

I have been watching the new show "Sanctuary" since it started. It has been hard for me to get used to Amanda Tapping having black hair and an English accent, but I'm finally starting to get past it and enjoy the show.

I just watched the season finale last Friday and I feel that the show is finally starting to peak my interest a little more. In fact, I feel that the season finale has actually been the best show so far. It made me interested in watching it again when the new season starts.
