A Stray Cat Bit My Poker Playing Hand!
What a week! On Monday, I heard cats fighting outside. I went out and my big boy "Sheldon" was fighting with a big stray cat. I got Sheldon in the house and then decided it would be a good idea to go back outside to see about the other cat.
It came up to me, all lovy-like, rubbing around my legs and meowing. I reached down and petted it's head and it rubbed into my hand and meowed some more. I reached down again and it just attacked me! It sunk all 4 of its fangs into the back of my right hand. I just went limp. I didn't want to rip his teeth out of my hand and I figured if I remained calm, he would let me go. He did, but then..OMG.. it hurt!!
I ended up getting a bad infection. The cat bit right into the tendons and the infection started spreading up my arm and all into my fingers. My hand was about 3x it's normal size and I had to keep it above my heart or it would throb. (I still tried to play poker with my left hand, but I felt so crappy that I played crappy..
Animal control set a trap and we finally caught the cat on Thursday. Phew. I will find out Monday if I need to have rabies shots!
I'm grateful that the gigantic antibiotics I'm taking have started working and I can use my hand for some things again..Like Poker!!!
