    Default Starting Stacks Your thoughts

I wish more trny`s would start us with more chips. If we had more chips from the get go we could survive more donk plays and cash more.

I noticed that last nite when playing a big stack buyin at cake. Made a huge difference in how I played my hands. Course it was cake, so blinds were still a factor.

The luxury of having huge stacks to start like they do in the WSOP with blinds that last 120 minutes-wow. You can actually play poker instead of racing the blinds.

I strongly believe online poker tends to favor the looser players so sites can get the players out of the tourneys and onto the cash tables.

Very true, I wish more sites would follow suit with FTP. The blind structure there is great. You can actually sit out in the 1st portion of a trny and let the all in people get eliminated for the most part and then sit and still have most of your chips.

Agreed. I played a deepstack a few weeks back and I really enjoyed it. You can take a few more chances early on and post-flop play is a much bigger factor.

I also enjoy deep stack tournaments for the reasons listed above. I play a couple of them regularly and place much better do in the shorter stack events. I also have to admit sitting out during the early rounds and love the fact that I still have a workable number of chips when I do decide to get in the game.

i must admit that a deepstarting stack is much more of use at a start of a tournament
shorter stacks like at pdc in some of my other forum leagues start at 1000 which is not very good as you dont get many players playing until the blinds move up. but i find in deepsatcks you get to much action early on as every 1 no's they have a bigger stack and will call hands they normally wont play

That is why I like bodog freerolls you start out with 1,500 chips instead of 1,000 that many others use. Bodog changed from 1,000 starting chips and I am glad they did because ever since they have it has allowed me to cash so much more often than before. I owe it all to changing the starting stack to 1,500.

I also enjoy DS tournaments because it allows you to make a couple of big mistakes before you are actually eliminated. I noticed I play my best poker in 6 people MAX tournies and I think it is because with only 6 people including you at the table less chances to get donked out.

Yea I agree 1500 just dosent seem like a good starting stack. 2000 or 2500 seems more reasonable.

Post If Your Patient It's Great

Yes, I tend to do better with more starting chips, as long as I'm in the right kind of mood. You have to have a lot of patience in a deeper stack game, at first. A lot of people see more chips, so they tend to overbet the pot right from the start. Sometimes it seems that they all think they are the big stack and try to bully each other with all those chips or something..lol.

So, in my experiences, when I've had the patience to not get involved in any huge pots at the beginning of the game, I've tended to last longer. Then, as in most tourneys, the better and/or more lucky and/or more patient players are left to play some real poker with you.

Except for SitnGo guys, I would hate to see everyone with deepstack there... I would stop playing them because it will take ages to end
