Oh yeah! Heavyweights! I've always loved watching the big guys knock each other around. Kimbo Slice is on the show this season. It should be pretty interesting considering Dana White's previous trash talking about him. Being a "street fighter" he has never been taken seriously by many in the UFC from what I've seen.
Rampage Jackson and Rashad Evans are the coaches this season. Their banter at the beginning of the show was great. They have such opposite personalities. I haven't liked Rashad's cocky attitude since I saw him in his first fight on his season of The Ultimate Fighter. He is a kick-ass fighter for sure though, often underestimated at the beginning of his career due to his attitude.
Rampage is a big teddy bear, a big sweetie...lol. I love his personality. I'm not sure he's the best coach or fighter there ever was, but his team spirit goes a long way. I liked how he took Kimbo (the underdog who has to prove himself) and welcomed him with open arms. That speaks volumes to me about him personally and if I was a fighter, I would want someone like that as a coach rather than "Mr. Cocky Rashad."
That being said, it is looking like Team Rashad is going to kick Team Rampage's ass, right off the bat.The first fight pick went to Rampage, but he picked a big guy (Abe Wagner) who seemed kinda slow and put him up against one of the smaller heavyweights (Jon Madsen). Madsen is quick and has a great take-down and wrestling background. The fight got really bloody pretty quickly when Madsen took Wagner down and cut his forehead with some good elbows.
The second round was more of the same and ended with Madsen over top Wagner again. So, Team Rashad-1, Team Rampage-0. It should be an interesting and possibly very bloody season. Heavyweights have those big, huge fists...lol.
