This year, hubby and I decided to go to one of the many Halloween parties we are always invited to. We always make our own costumes, it's kind of a tradition for us and really fun. I thought I would share our costumes with you all this year. They were so fun to make. We discovered that my hubby may have a career in dress-making..lol... I'm thinking about signing him up for Project Runway...lol.
Anyway... We almost always use materials that we already have around the house. This year, we decided that we were going to "Father Time" and "Mother Nature." Using 2-liter pop bottles, some leftover wood pieces and some sand from his Horseshoe pit, hubby made a really cool Father Time hourglass. We took the garbage bag full of Sunflower garland from my daughter's wedding, removed the sunflowers and the big leaves to make our vines. Hubby spray painted his silver to represent the old and mine were of course green to represent the new life.
I had a bolt of green material that I planned to make curtains out of (someday..lol), so we cut a hunk off and my hubby wrapped me up in it, stuck in some safety pins here and there and created a gorgeous gown for me.
To make his robe, I pulled out my graduation robe from college and an old sheet, attached the silver leaves and made a Sickle from a stick and some painted wood. Our friends let us borrow a mask, we usually don't wear a mask, we like make-up better, but the mask was perfect.
So, here is our final result...
