My Christmas Flight With Daniel Negreanu

I was seated next to a Daniel Negreanu on the airplane leaving from Atlanta when I turned to him and said, 'Let's talk. I've heard that flights go quicker if you strike up a conversation with your fellow passenger.'

Daniel, who had just opened his poker theory book, closed it slowly and said to the me, 'What would you like to talk about?'

'Oh, I don't know,' I said. 'How about the float play or 3 betting the turn', and smiled smugly.

'OK, ' he said. 'Those could be interesting topics. But let me ask you a question first. A horse, a cow, and a deer all eat the same stuff - grass. Yet a deer excretes little pellets, while a cow turns out a flat patty, and a horse produces clumps of dried grass.

Why do you suppose that is?


Now , I was visibly surprised by Daniels intelligence and train of thought, I thought about it and said,
'Hmmm, I have no idea.'

To which Daniel replied, 'Do you really feel
qualified to discuss the float play or 3 betting the turn when you don't know shit?

i didn't realize it was a joke until i read sb's post. my brother bumped into former nfl coach jon gruden at the airport in chicago last weekend, coach didn't hit him with any jokes though.

Not bad. Negreanu is my favorite poker player. Not too full of himself.

I'd hope he wouldn't talk to me at the poker table. Every time he starts to talk, the cards back him up. The bigger his hand, the more he talks. So it is a definite fold hand, if he started chatterboxing my way, lol.
