i read most of what is posted here, had never heard of dmaske and when i clicked on him/her as a new player it said banned...

can u tell me why...

from my record they were banned for spaming the forum ... I remember the name and banning them quite rightly too

you know them ??

feel free to PM me if you feel they've been somehow miss-treated or they're someone I really should know about and not be banning -

but afiaks whoever you think is dmaske is NOT the same one that I and a bunch of other forums have banned for blatant spam and PM spam also

from my banning notes they posted spam in the forum on 1st post and also sent spam via PM to me and also I think others ... cant remember 100% what the PM's were but think they might have been punting a site - cant remember

it was a simple and easy decision at the time - straight spam

so i am certain they got banned because they didnt follow the rules and were spamming

there are also several other forums showing a "dmaske" as banned ... maybe this isnt the same person you think it was ??

No one realizes how much unwanted spam and advertising links and outright porn forum staff have to delete on a regular basis. While no one likes to ban members, after a while it becomes obvious from one post that someone just joined to spam. Most of them are so similar they jump right out at you.

They are like gangs. There are the spammers that put their affiliate links in their signatures, the WOW spammers, the porn spammers, the bot spammers, the spammers for spams sake. My all time favorite was the spammer that posted his links in white so you couldn't see them!!!

I finally just banned most of one country's ip addresses it got so bad.

One of the admins from another forum (which I won't mention) banned 2/3rds of Malta by banning all Go ip addresses in his zeal to get rid of one particular member. Go provides the service for 2/3rds of the island.

lol - I think all webamsters have done something similar

I dont think Ive ever banned a whole country or a whole island but the blunt tool of IP banning used to work reasonably effectively and specifically

however most spammers now use proxy IP's afaiks anyway so its like chasing a moving target and its more likely to get innocent people caught in the net if the net is thrown too wide

sorry I was a bit slow on seeing the humour originally - sorry bout that Ive got it sussed now who has a dry sense of humour ;-)
