Firefox addons, your thoughts

Hey gang,

I don't know how many members are using Firefox as their internet browser, but i do myself. First i was a IE user, by default, in some way, but many troubles accured that drives me nuts.
Then some OL friends told me that i should use Firefox and i did, thinking it wouldn't change much, but i was wrong. Firefox is a really great way to handle internet, IMO.
But here is the purpose of my this thread:
I want you, members that use Firefox to tell us about the addons your using, why and how it improve your internet life.

Here is some of the addons i really appreciate with Firefox:

FastestFox --> Have the ability to link all text highlighted thru different search engine so that you don't have to copy and paste text. It also permit for users to scrolldown pages without clicking on next.
Here is a pic:

SimilarWeb --> Bring you the opportunity to find related sites or link sites to the one you're browsing. Users can add their own related sites, to improve the choice.

Scrapbook --> Somekind of a post-it/bookmarks for you to isolate some infos of a site as a side note. (tournaments schedules for example)

Here it is. I also have the iMacros addon but don't really know how it works.

Hi Hoje.

I start using firefox also some time back because a friend comment me that it was a lot faster that IE, and because was a lot safer, in that time i see that it truely was way more faster and also safer than IE, i was happy every time i read that IE have a new breakdown on safety issues and that need to get new improvements every couple days, also at that time Firefox was the only with the private navigation option and the no history record option wich helps to keep things clean and safe even if i forget to clean manually.

Never get back to IE, so no idea if IE is better now or if google crome is ok, i just happy with FF.

About addons.

I keep it clean

The only ones that use are.

Adblock plus: i love this one, this is a advertising blocker, if you enter to a page and pop up a new advertising window then is blocked and you decide if see it or not. Also, if a site/page have advertising banners that not want to see you can block them and every time you enter to that page you will not see it any more.

McAfee SiteAdvisor : this add is for safety, you can see before enter a page if the site is safe to enter or not (it appears like green or red), also give you info if site as been tested by McAfee and if site have links to other sites you can see how safe they are.

DownloadHelper : this help to download images or videos from sites like you tube or others, also give a list of same videos available with different image qualitys, example i want to download a music video from You tube but the video i find not look good, then the DH give you a list of other similar videos and quality of each one.

Download Statusbar : this just help to have a little window down your browser, so if have other windows open you can know when your downloads will be ready, instead of having a extra window you only see a miniwindow in every page.

RealPlayer plug in : this is a player to see videos (you can download also), this have some special codecs required for some radio stations on web sites that other media players don´t have.

That´s it, don´t need nothing more.

New Add on i get for firefox.


ReminderFox: This can be use for any type of reminder (pay bills, birthdays, holydays, etc) but this will help a lot with my games schedule.



1 just click in add and can add any event, put a little description, chose date, times, and how many times in the day or how soon before the event start want be remind.

Even can add a little note there to put the pw or what ever.

2 you will see in the bottom of the browser the sooner event to come, put the mouse pointer there and can see that little window .

3 this is the same window that will pop up when the time come (15 minutes before event or what ever time you set) and have sound too.

Some times i register for a game and by the time game start forget because usually doing other stuff, searching forums, playing, etc, so with this hopely will not miss another game

Dont play with too much plug in stuff but FIREFOX is the best browser out

thanks for the info. never thought about it. i didn 't really know i had options besides internet explorer. i am tered of all there updates. i will consider...

I use one called Colorful Tabs, that is when u open tabs in the browser, each gets a unique color, thats all it does. kinda nice.
