Does fancy dress make a goodnight out?

Hi all,
have u ever been to an organised fancy dress event? and what do u think could be added to this to make it more entertaining? or what nights do u think are entertaining without fancydress but would be more fun with fancy dress?

Would appreciate any views

Yeah, have been to a few...some were just anything you could come up with and others had "themes" like the usual: doctors and nurses, vicars and tarts, roman toga party, etc...

Fancy dress usually makes it easier for people to get to know each other, joking about each others' costumes, etc, breaks the ice a bit...some who turn up looking pretty similar have something to talk about as well... "mine's better than yours" banter

For others it's too much effort... they will turn up in last week's jeans and a six pack.

I dunno, I'd still do it and I'm 52 so...lol...

Don't make it too difficult or costly for 'em to get a costume if you are thinking about it so more will be inclined to make the effort or can improvise with household implements and sheets, lol

PS: if you have it when we're in the UK, I'll make judge wear a dress...and make-up...
