DSL problems

I realized this weekend just how much I depend on my computers and DSL internet. Got home Friday night ready to play and several tourneys and my browser wouldn't stay connected even though my computer said I had a very good to excellent connection. Of course I called my phone company and after 2 hours, they tried to tell me it was my browser in my computer. Sat. morning I thought to try getting on with my Mac and it was the same way, so I knew it was their problem not mine. 2-3 more hours with the phone company and still no fixes. At least this guy told me to "cheat" a little and turn off my modem so the techs would actually call me back since running the on line test showed no problem. This meant I couldn't play all day Sat. too. Finally after church today I turned on the computer because I had to do some banking. It just so happened the phone co. called me right at that time.
Lo and behold, my internet was running faster. When I asked what she had done on her end so I would know the next time what to tell them, she said she did some "re-provisioning". Now I don't know exactly what that means, but I have an idea and it came fromone of the main centers about 70 miles away. At any rate, if any of you have a problem with your DSL being much slower than even dial-up, now you know the term to use.

the service we've been getting from them has been rubbish for the past month or so - outage everyday for 3hrs or so

right in the middle of tournaments etc - it's been a real nightmare

I knew it wasnt a problem at my end as two other people down the street had same problems - they rang the tech support at stupid pence per minute to get told this and that story / change this / change that

obviously its their end but they're making the most of premium rate support calls IMHO while they give a poor services - its almost worth it for the for the extra dosh as far as I can make out

I'm on Pipex and have the same problem.I can play until 5pm at night then I get really bad disco/freezing problems.They say they can't do anything about it as it's when everybody in my area go on the internet and they say it's to do with the poker sites not there problem.What stories they tell.
