I live in Western New York and Spring has Sprung around our yard.
The daffodils are in full bloom along with tiny blue forget-me-not flowers amidst dark green leaves. The tiger lily leaves are pointy knee high spikes next to the irises anxiously starting to sprout new flower buds. The hostas have poked through the dirt next to the lamb's ear, red sedum and love-in-a mist. Our little strawberry patch in the middle of our flower bed has it's first tiny white blossoms. The peony are growing tall and red reaching for the spring sun. The japanese lilies have sprouted through and look like tiny pineapples bursting through the ground.
In our pond, the goldfish are happily enjoying the warm spring sunshine and the free bread treats tossed in every day. My kitties are once again amazed by the goldfish as they make sucky noises while devouring their pieces of bread. The toads have already mated and left their eggs in the pond. Thousands of tadpoles can be seen clinging to the side of the pond, on the rocks and every now and then one will bravely swim through the school of goldfish seemingly playing "catch me if you can" with the goldfish.
As I walk through the woods behind our house I see the foot prints of a big buck and what is probably some female deer and their babies. I see the little human looking raccoon handprints in the mud along the trail criss crossing with tracks from wild turkey, bunnies, squirrel and even tiny mouse prints. A branch from a sumac tree lays on the ground and is covered with chew marks from the bunnies enjoying the bark. Tiny little toads hop across my shoes as I walk down the path. Birds are busy in the bushes gathering twigs for nests. The squirrels have also been there as evidenced by the tiny bite marks in the old apples I've left along the trail for "my wildlife friends."
Yes, Spring has Sprung here in Western New York and I am loving every minute of it!!!!!!!
