Scrawny bob, for an admin on a poker site, you appear to have very little knowledge of the game of poker. This is an all in luck graph - it charts what you were expected to have one, with what you actually won. So please stop claiming this is spam. If you go all in with AA preflop for $10 against KK, you are expected to win 80% of the time, hence on the graph, the red line will go up $8. That is how this graph works. It's called a poker EV graph.
bear in mind your new here and so we have no idea if your genuine or just a spammer looking for attention - we have a zero tollerance on that front and it seemed like a very odd first / 2nd post
thanks for your thoughts on my "knowledge of poker" really appreciated - especially given that we dont know each other beyond you making 2 posts
I'll keep my personal opinions / thoughts on the graph / and playing results to myself but suffice to say I dont see anything "doomswitchy"
to be honest as soon as anyone posts with the term "doomswitch" which IMHO is a pile of nonsense (but we can agree to differ on that) this from experience leads to one of two things (or both)
the post then suddenly is replied to by the original poster with a spammy long tirade on the existence and "proof" of the doomswitch - which can be found at xyzsite dot com etc etc
or it is a ranting player with the wrong expectation of results / bad play / inconsistent play who is just signing up at any forums they can find to vent at anyone who will bite with no real interest in joining the community other than to rant or get abusive
so I apologise clearly you are saying neither is the case - but we have had more "doomswitch" spam posts turn up from a 1 or 2 post new member than I care to count - hence my prediction that the thread would suddenly gain the post mentioned with links to "proof"
I hope you apprecaite that we have to make judgement calls on spam based on previous experience of spammers and their techniques - unfortunately this thread fitted that initially
as for the EV chart - ok I dont use them and hadnt seen one for all-ins - that doesnt make me a putz - but I'll skim over that one
I think I posted somewhere else on the whole probability thing as someone else was getting their knickers in a twist when the absolute rules of odds / probability and by association EV deserted them
And I said this - Probability is only statistical fact over an infinate period of time or number of events
(that BTW is based on scientist and stuff not just "an admin on a poker site appearing to have very little knowledge of poker")
in other words - while we all use EV / Probabilty / Odds etc to predict probability of outcomes there is no reason why this has to be an even return of probability over any period of time other than infinity
therefore saying something is an 80% probability over a shorter period of time, especially a very short period of time is likely to be less and less accurate
where that line of a realistic period of time gets drawn is open to debate given that it will only become and absolute over an infinate or near infinate time / number of events
I know you feel that there is a discrepency - and by all means complain to the site / network / regulators / gaming commission etc
but as far as I know (and dont forget I'm an admin know doesnt know much about poker) most pro players would be looking at a run over a much much longer period of time
and they have also been known to "run bad" for a year or even 2 spending a fortune on buy-ins / ring games etc without going anywhere but down - then they come back and win win win
hope thats a help and hopefully explained why the thread was handled how it was
cheers scrawnybob

1) the original poster - is an almost 100% idiot spammer posting a totally bogus graph which doesnt actually show anything or have any bearing on poker - it's just some made up "allins" results chart - it's spam
there is no such thing as a doomswitch - and even if you take out all his nonsense descriptions of what the graph is showing and interpret it as a win loss chart (like the ones sharkscope might generate) it doesnt even show any kind of "doomswitch" type cliff on the win loss
I'd be happy if the original poster wants to reply with a more intelligible explainatio - but I'm not holding my breath
If the poster is genuine - As I have already explained in my reply - players can and will suffer downswings as much as they may experience upswings - luck is still an element of poker all beit less so than consistent skill - and that skill includes riding out bad cards and not blowing profit from the good runs during bad runs.
2) Lawyer - jumping in with your "legal" help when in fact this thread is tenuious from the start is just as opportunistic as all your other posts now you seem to be wanting to mention and link to you online lawyer site thing
posting a complaint link in this thread was IMHO just you trying to make the most out of a thread for your own benifit - if you'd properly read it (without an agenda) you would have realised this thread was not credible
so far you have posted some very old news that the majority of members are aware of - this information is also clearly and permanently visible in our review of Bodog - posting "NEWS that Bodog has closed" is not responsible and given that alot of our members dont read beyond the headline - this would have our newer members under a totally wrong impression -
Bodog is open on a new Url
(and this all happened over 6 months ago - service was unaffected)
you have also posted other links to a press article with the suggestion that the Kahnawake Gaming Commission has been blacklisted by UK govt - I appreciate this is not your article and you were just linking to it - but as in my reply to this post ...
The article and posting it as a "blacklist" headline is misleading - the UK Govt run a whitelist for approved sites etc, Kahnawake failed to make it onto the whitelist - which is not the same as being blacklisted - many sites have applied to be on the whitelist and so far have not been approved but are making efforts to fit into the regulation
The UK govt is not taking a blacklisting approach to these regulations they are working on an approval system - that is a very big difference
anyway you other post with logos etc for your business and links to it etc has also been edited ...
WE ARE NOT here for you or anyone else for that matter to promote their business, or generate links to your site etc - this is just pushing things past the line - SO BE WARNED
I DONT need some self appoined authority on online gaming law who so far hasnt IMHO acted in a way that actually suggest you truly are - I'm not a lawyer but I do spend time to read up on Online gaming law as best as a layman can ...
I dont offer legal advice - but I also know when its being offered by someone who doesnt really know their stuff either and is just trying to gain links and exposure for their site - and it's not on

Dear scrawnybob,
This has to be the strangest tirade I have every read from admin on a forum.
I am new to this site and must say I think the welcome to a newcomer is a little aggressive.
I was interested in this thread because I have an Interest in Gambling Law, admittedly I do not play internet poker, I didn't see it as a requirement to join this site.
I only tried to help the original posters' argument with the poker site, I must also stress here it is a common problem a lot of on line gamblers are having, especially with poker providers based in Canada. Hence the link to the UK Government decision not to "as You put it" white list the Kahnawake Gaming Commission.
As you read Gaming Law I am sure you have read and understand
Her Majesty Government's decision.
I find it strange the vitriol coming from you in this matter, in regard to the developing situation with in regard to the Kahnawake Gaming Commission, Absolute poker, and Ultimatebet (same owners) All of which are under scrutiny by the Govenments of the UK,US,and Canada.
I appear not to be welcome in your site, for what ever reason. I must admit to being disappointed.
I wish you and your members the best of luck for the future, and good luck in the sites that are in the kahnawake area as I and others do not think they are going to be around for long.
ummmm....Mr.Lawyer the reason the Kahnawake Gaming Commission is under Canadian government scrutiny is because the current party of power is very pro-US(Washington) in it's governing agenda. They tend to bow down to Washington whenever asked to oblige. There may also be a little pressure from the provincially run OLGC casinos, but it is no small secret that the Feds and the Ontario provincial govt are not very friendly towards each other,so this may be a move to possibly help the next governing Ont. party (possibly PC which is where many of the current Fed.Cabinet came from) should the current Liberals fall after the next election. There may also be another added purpose to this, like a provincial govt, that some of the Fed. Cabinet came from, when there are many embarrassing and threatening issues at hand, create a distraction to divert attention to a new crisis,In this case a new aboriginal issue.
Given that they(the Federal govt.) also have an extremely poor working relationship with Canada's First Nations community, and are wading into a very fragile environment, I wouldn't be holding my breath for anything major to occur in the very near future even though they have hinted at taking steps to disrupt the activities of the KGC.Any seemingly attack on the sovereignty of the First Nations will bring more than a small uprising from aboriginals across the country and this is something that Ottawa cannot afford to do. In case you are not aware of how our current govt. of Canada operates, they say plenty but in the end it is all smoke and mirrors. In other words, whenever I hear them profess this and that, I ask for someone to pass me the salt. A grain of it is all I need.
BTW, there should be a federal election soon as well that could see a change that will take the 'Washington" out of Ottawashington and give the Canadian 'Ottawa' back to it's citizens.A Liberal govt. in Ottawa will not be jumping on the bandwagon to invade the rights of the First Nations like the current CPC govt has.
my issue with you Lawyer is your linking to your business / site
hi
my issue with you Lawyer is that your using the site just to link and promote your site / business - and that is solely why I am "aggressive towards your postings"
if you were just posting things without an agenda then I wouldnt be so hostile - but you are
I've edited out logos and alsorts - so your agenda is to get exposured / links etc to your site
that is against our rules
so that and that alone has rubbed me up the wrong way - if you had been posting in a whiter than white fashion then your reception would have been more welcome
so please dont post replies as if you some wronged saint - you were trying to big up your business and get links - and I just havent ignored it
responding to your posts - the bodog one was news from 6 months ago and posted in a way to suggest some kind of recent disaster
so just be honest about why you were here and why you joined - dont try and make me look bad when in fact your hope was to post as many replies to things with your business logo / links etc in
if you'd just been straight about it and offered advice and info without an agenda we would have been far more receptive
admin

You're too nice Bob - on most forums the word BANNED would have been used by now!
