Am getting a little tilty with Titan lately, have been getting fantastic hands only to be beaten constantly by any number of cards on the river.
Last one was me with QQ, other guy K,9o, I raise and he calls (bet about 5x BB) flop sees 3c, Ks, Jc, (he checks and I raise again) turn Qd (he goes all in and I oblige), river 10h
Me Trips Queens
Him Straight K-9
Bomb out frustrated.
He did this to me earlier also (rivered, KK's into trips to a low straight), plus in two tourney's that day I copped similar things. On other sites this rarely happens (as in if I am favorite for the hand then a majority of the time I will win it), but Titan seems to reward crap starting hands more so than any of the other 5 sites I play at.
Some of them you are ok with - the one I highlighted wasn't too bad by him especially with only three left, but others where they go all in with say a 6,2o to K,K and come out on top (The last 4 out of 5 K,K's I have had on Titan has been beaten by a card on the turn or river - not one of them with aces) especially in the middle of a Sn'G or early to mid tournament is just absolutely crazy, especially when you get bugger all up until that point in time (and others on the table seem to be going on extended runs for long periods of time).
I know I am not the best poker player out there, but to get more that what seems average beats on the river makes me think "hmmmmmmmmmmm" or "oh ffs not again" at the very least.
Is it just the type of players playing here? Or am I going through a phase in my play where this happens more often than not (in a statistical sense)?
everyone questions how random the random number generators are at sites -
maybe its natures way of finding a scape goat, its also hard to really keep track of just how much you or the other player benifits from lucky cards etc
I had a funny stint at pokerstars - hands not going my way then I got lucky on a couple of random hands I tried to bluff and ended up taking with quads etc - so luck goes both ways
a mate is convinced one site favours flush draws - I started to think I could make straight draws
others think another site always favours the underdog with a slight edge - I play this site and seem to get less badbeats - the dealing rate there is very high so you see 25% more hands than some of the other sites
etc etc I really think its just the cards you get at x time wherever you happen to be
some feel one random card generator is more random than another - in all honesty no-one
can really be sure
your going to get badbeats - fact
and your going to see some crazy things - fact
and even if you play mutiple sites who's to say you dont just happen to get your unlucky run when you happen to be at one particular site
or maybe you go on a spree of chasing cards - and get lucky at one site and get your bad luck at another
if you play all your poker at one site - whichever it is - you can be sure of one thing - your only going to get good / bad cards + good or bad luck at one site
It doesnt make that site bad or fixed etc its just where you are when you going to get whatever the cards and the players bring you
over time logging up alot of hours at whatever sites you play this should average out
and that is what poker is all about - consistently having an edge over time - that means you win well, lose a bit, win abit, loss alot, win a bit more etc but over time you should be getting ahead - or breaking even
alot of geeks / maths masters do watch the random card generators - and believe me they would spot it if something was majorly amiss at a big site + they are audited
the big sites know this so I think the temptation to bend the odds is far outweighed by the potential disaster of 1000's of players leaving overnight
hope thats a help

I agree with what you are saying Bob - think it was more of a site tilt than anything, and just a massive bad beat run.
It maybe that it is a little more donkeyish and am getting a lot of chasers, and unfortunately am the one getting the hits at this time.
I feel a bit better now anyways - won a $10 tourney last night at titan - played tight, let a few good hands go through to the keeper (still got beaten by crap with KK on one occaision), even folded 8,8 after being raised with three to go (I suspect just trying to steal blinds), but at the time I didn't think it was worth having a showdown.
I do notice differences in sites and the hands that people chase (not neccesarily get) - stars - two pair seems to e par for the course, pacific - straights, Titan - flushes, others - I don't play enough to get a feel for yet.
ive noticed that on titan lately.
i dont know how many times ive ended up all in with aa or ak to get called by someone with 75 or 96 and then they win!!! makes me wonder if they have some sort of unfair advantage. the other day i flopped a Q high straight and had the inside card and Q to make it a straight, only to get beat by a fullhouse on the river.
of course im not the best pokerplayer in the world, but i rarely go allin unless i definetely am sure i have the best hand possible. and ive been getting so burned lately especially on these ipoker clients.
then again like scrawny said maybe im just on a losing streak???
i have atough time at titan also but i find poker .com to be more true to form. but we always rember whe n we get suxed out we forget when we do the suxing out. its ok then ;lol
I agree with sethsdad, I think we all remember the bad beats(or suckouts) more than losing to a better hand. I am guessing we all have been on the end of a river that saved our ass!
