hmm not sure what advice to offer here..
My 'better' half found the Main Event to be a donk fest, but I wish you the best of luck in it lol
I played Event #52 last year and I found it a very lonely experience.. no table chat like you get when you play forum games.
As for accomodation, well that really depends on your budget aswell as personal preferance.
The first year we went we stayed at the Luxor and up-graded to a suite which was really nice.
Last year we rented a 3 bed villa with pool.. now that was FANTASTIC and we will be doing that again whenever we go to Vegas.
The cost last year was 2,000 GBP
That was for 2 weeks car and villa hire and flights for 2 from the UK.
Here's a couple of really good sites for you to check out - Vegas isn't (or doesn't have to be) all about the Poker and we make it our annual holiday. These site have lots of non-poker activities available for you in Vegas.. some you'll pay for but others are FREE!!
Whatever you decide to do and where ever you decide to stay I hope you have an amazing time.. infact I know you'll have an amazing time lol
Inexpensive Must Do's & Neat Places: Las Vegas Inexpensive Entertainment Must Do's
FREE ATTRACTIONS: Las Vegas Attractions - Free Fun
Whatever you do while in Vegas you MUST see Fremont Street (downtown Vegas) and the light show that they have.. it's a real treat!!Last edited by tots; 05-23-2009 at 02:02 PM.

Congratulations!

Because Las Vegas has cheap food we used it as a base for visiting The Grand Canyon and Death Valley, coming back to the hotel each night and then travelling somewhere else the next day."Good players very rarely call. Good players raise or fold. Good players who call a bet after the flop are very, very often slowplaying a monster hand.” Phil Gordon’s Little Green Book

Just got back from Vegas (Tuesday). I was there for 3 days and it was enough. I agree that Vegas is much more than poker, but really didnt take advantage of the other recreational things going on.
Did the Grand Canyon lat year and it has to be done. This will make the trip all that more enjoyable regardless of how you do in the game.
I played a couple of MTT's and agree that the play (mostly) was awful.
As for tips for Hotels etc... Tots links are excellent (yes I really did click on them lol).
Best advice I would give is to enjoy yourself and savour every moment. And play your usual game too. Don't get dragged in by the all inners or constant raisers there seem to be out there.
Most of all, good luck. Because you are sure gonna need a slice of it...

WTG.

My advice would be to switch the seat to the main event to try other events.
Why not those:
No Limit Hold'em $5000 Event 15
No Limit Hold'em Short Handed $5000 Event 56
I personnaly would go for
HORSE $3000 Event 21
It all depends on which game you prefer and feel confident with and if PKR allowed you to switch.
Anyway, i wish you good luck in Vegas.
18 months Quarantine
at least...

I made it to day 4 but unfortunately i only had 85k in chips and blinds wer 4000/2000 with 500 or 600 ante. Ran 22 into 88 when trying to steal blinds. Was about 720/6500ish.
Pretty upset i was so close to the money on 648 but i had awsome time and i will hopefully be back!!!
