DOING POKER LIVE 1st time

OK Im going to dip my feet slightly, Im going to touch the actual felt and cards.

$1/$2 min buy $20 so since this my first time Im going in probably shortacked as I will buy $40 dollars but I gotta see what happens cause I really dont want to drop $40 and hopefully one hand wont kill me, plus I have never played this kind of buy in

Im nervous as hell but I will update ya'll hopefull hours from now, but it could be 30 minutes from now so until then

HOLY CRAP - IF HEAVEN has got to be live poker. THIS WAS F'N awesome + $57 profit to boot. Play $1/$2 limit and WOW

AHHH isnt the picture a site of beauty esp with only putting up $20.

OK I see my thread is generating a buzz by the overwhelming support

SO here is a little more about last nights poker room debut

1) some slow guy (he had something wrong with) would have to make sure any hand he turned over that he really lost and some old lady beside (who was trip) kept yelling at him. CANT YOU SEE YOURE BEATEN then the slow guy " I Just wanted to see what he had ( use the spaces as pauses between words and you get the idea

2) It was kind of weird, having hands actually hold up and not have the river take every hand and award bad play - Once or twice but a lot of the action wasnt on face cards

3) I came one suit away for a royal flush - in which the whole table starting looking at my hand and thery were like OH HELL I If that J was the same suit you would of won $500.

4) AN AMAZING AMOUNT OF CHIPS WENT INTO THE RAKE MACHINE - THE BAD BEAT MACHINE AND THE TIP MACHINE - and all the dealers were seemed very cool

5) For some reason placing $1 bets and losing or folding doesnt bother near as bad as dropping .50 online (dont why I feel like its killing me losing money online)

6) THE PLAY's - I KNOW I SUCK but some of these folks were just donating every hand and not winning hardly any and then started buying more and more chips.

7) LIMIT - A GODSEND AND HINDERANCE - Godsend for the hands that I got beat on, but it was a real hinderence trying to ice anyone out. HAd 3 Q's on the flop, all I can do was miniums until I was caught on the river by a straight but he was gonna follow me to the end

8) With a 1000 conversations going with folded players, sometimes it made if difficult to think

9) I gave way too much credit to some people at my table and could just and watch chips I should of won go away since the $2 raise scared me off

10) DAYTONAs card room VERY NICE, VERY NEAT and table while full didnt seem too cramped

11) STUPID STUFF I did that showed that wasnt very card room savvy, while not too bad and the table was pretty laid back group, I was folding but wanted to show a strong hand out so I folded and show only thing is the hand wasnt over and got a bunch NO NO NO"s cant do that ROB at the table. NO BIGGIE HERE - kept throing in the $2 chip instead of one

12) Old lady beside, we were having a riot, NO ROB THE YELLOW ONE IS $2 and the blue is $1, LOOK ROB YOU GOT THEM MIXED UP, I SAID NO' picked up the whole stack and said THEY ARE ALL $2's this is my secret weapon stack. SHE SAID "WHEre DID YOU GET ALL THOSE $2's" I told her from her of course. lol

13) Again all the side talk, many times people played out of turned such as seat #3 folding before seat 2 even did anything. WHICH IF ANYONE WAS WATCHING ME, screwed me up a few times cause then IM grabbing for chips but #2 who was about to bet decided to fold. Little things like that, not too bad but enought of it, ONE TIME I WAS ABOUT TO TELL THE WHOLE TABLE TO SHUT UP, cause I couldnt think on one of the hand but I didnt.

14) Played over 7 hours - was in amazement that I was still playing on my first $20 3 hours later and I wasnt playing super tight but I wasnt donating every hand either and a lot were :AHHH WHAT THE HELL I HEARD ITS ONLY MONEY" Some of the people I busted out, I convinced to stay at that table.

15) Probably like this everywhere, in a 4 hour period if you got full house aces full of queens or better (2x) you automatically were in it to split $6k with everyone that did it 2x in the time period. My table 4 people got it once (not me)

16) SOme woman who seemed pretty good at the game was just talking startegy with the player beside her and Im just easedropping like hell.


WELL THATS JUST SOME OF MY FIRST CARD ROOM FUN. I will continue to play the $1/$2 LIMIT tables until I see this wasnt just beginners luck and IM THINKING OF GOING AGAIN TODAY, the place is less than 5 minutes from my house and I have been scared to go but its proabbly good cause YA'LL GOT ME GETTING MY GAME TOGETHER


OH YEA THE LAST THING ABOUT THE CARDGAME, NUTZ ON THE FLOP And then just watching people raise and re raise you, I just kept bitching about DAMN CANT WE PLAY ANYTHING CHEAP AT THE TABLE and was told CHEAP nothing is cheap as he re-raised from $6 to$8 and then someone else also pput up the raise. Both flipped over 2 pairs but neither flip over a straight lol. Same thing happen on a floped full house of 6's full of queens and the best was LARRY TELLING ME that he was about to get his chips back so again I bitched about the high price he kept putting me in, let just say Larry wasnt after those chips too much after the hand.

SAd part of the night, I busted out the old lady beside me, who was a trip and she left telling me she trained me too well and she cant afford to give me anymore money, I kept saying MARY come on now, YOU GOT IT ITS ALL YOU NOW. No luck.

OH YEA I almost forgot, after we all turned over, everyone was giving this guy props on his cards the dealer was starting to push the chips to him, I SAID NO NO NO LOOK AGAIN, everyone said ROB WHAT I DONT SEE ANYTHING (and I didnt either really becasue the suited cards came every other card and I should re-reaised the last bet) I SAID thats a flush, ahhh the chips were pushed to me

OVER REACTING or MAKING A POINT OR NEITHER

OK Card room not quite started - they start at 1pm, Im first on list for table, table has 2 empty seats,

Play starts hear dealer say he needs one more player, ALl of sudden some dude walks in and they lead him to my table

I goto the front desk and ask him if they have phone reservation to for seats and "HUH WHAT DO YOU MEAN" I said you know you call in and reserve a seat ahead on time

OH NO NO NO I get told

SO I ask how come you put people at my table when first in line

LISTEN TO THIS ANSWER (OK rember they are annoucing future tournies over the intercom.

SINCE THEY WERE ANNOUCNING OVER THE PA, I COULD NOT CALL TO SEE IF YOU WERE HERE

I said "BUT I WAS RIGHT HERE"

SO I said this guy just walks in and take me seat and thats cool

I said WELL THATS NOT COOL

"Oh I got you know it will be a few minutes)

after 20 minutes of seething at an empty table I just cashed out

"YOURE LEAVING ALREADY"

SHOULD I gotten the pitboss involved and got my seat

"Yep if my money aint good enough to play then why have a list" cashed out and left

Oh yea I forgot something else that happened last night that was odd. Some dude pops up at the table after he had lost a f' load on NL tables, said he needed to come over so he wouldnt leave broke.

For some reason this guy felt compelled to show me his pocket cards every hand I wasnt in. I mean regardless if he was playing or folding, every mucked card, he gave me a look at. I was thinking damn dude, kind of showing me your range, but I am friendly person if things are friendly but I wasnt going to show any cards.

"Hey look what I gotta fold" I just kind my eyes open wide but I didnt find this a smart thing to do

Oh yea one time when I felt like I had the win and everyone checked the turn and river all the way and I had the button, i tossed in 2 dollars where I got called an asshole" lol LOVE IT


In fact some of the hands I won outright, people kind of moaned that I wouldnt turn the cards over

I dont know if this will help or not help or give tell or not but there are TV screens with sports and dog races all over so regardless if I folded or not, I would give the impression I was really interested in the TV's. NOw I hope I wasnt looking at one monitor when I had a play and another when I didnt. As far as this looking at everyone before looking at your cards, the action was kind of fast to really get a good feel for all that

BTW IM still PO'd getting jerked around about the list, maybe it was a sign not to play, plus I get to watch the Sidel/Duke Final heads tourny.

on this one though I kind of think that if loosing your seat / place got you bent out of shape it may be as well you did cash out to live another day

poker is about composure (winning at least) you going to come across all sorts in poker - like life I guess but your definately going to come across your share of lowlife's, degens and losers ... soryr but thats the truth of it ...

alot of really great great people in poker ... winners and losers

BUT you've got to be ready to roll with it all, take the knock backs and know when to schmooze the table a bit if they're getting a bit hacked and the new boy taking chips off the table

maybe the guy is a mover and a shaker, maybe he is a total regular, maybe he has connections ... who knows ... at this point you dont know who is who in the casino so I would just blend in and not make a scene

yep if its a tournament or something and they mess up then say something but your 2nd cash game at this casino to date ... let it go

I'd have sat down for a coffee and chilled out and also waited to see what this guy was about or if it was a genuine mistake ...

either way not something to get stressed about ;-) life is too short

Yea I didnt think about contacts and regular people bringing cash in all the time as opposed to someone new.

DAMN AND I REALLY WANNA GO PLAY NOW (too bad its LOST Finale nihgt)

I didnt make a scene or nothing, I just told the guy at the desk I was right here (all the technology in this place and he cant make announcement over an announcement)

and the cash girl wondered why I was leaving so quick, so I just mumbled about the list and that was it.

I guess its not big deal but sometimes stuff like that get me, but I was sitting for like 45 minutes and the table did look like it had potential but also it was all senior citizens so they could of been sitting there for a while before anyone would leave.

Regardless of what happened last night, I HAVE THE BUG BIG TIME NOW, its like all Im thinking about is poker poker poker and it did feel much more real, playing real.

once again thanks everyone for the advice, next time I will sit down with a mountain dew and chill because IT WAS HARD AS HELL TO WALK OUT EVEN CASH OUT not playing, sometimes I feel I gotta make points that dont really need to made
