Default LIVE 2x TRAPs TROUBLEs QUADs & everything

Hit the casino tonight for about 8 hrs to a negative $25 SO I NEED HELP BIG TIME

Things started out so well 4 hands in I hit QUAD 4's - 1/2 of the QUADZILLA and ID win $500 so now starts the running joke for the night

JACKPOTS vs GOOD PLAY - THESE QUADS (2 pockets required) turn out to be a big win as I cracked aces and made really good money on this hand

NOW THE MONKEY ON MY BACK THE NEXT 7 hours - EVERYTIME I GET POCKET PAIRS Im playing crap I wouldnt even play just trying to get my 2nd quad for the jackpot

so how do ya'll handle this kind of situation, play for quads or stick to good poker ( I guess its an easy question but not so easy to execute)

GOOD POKER - BOB WAS RIGHT , TIGHT GOOD PLAY started causing me problems tonight with some of the older players at the table. Had some old guy ask me if I was here to gamble, 2 hands later I take a bunch of his chips, so I decide to throw a hand or 2 back his way to show I gamble, guess I made it too obvious "WELL THAT WASNT 2 hard to beat"

GOOD POKER again - Rolling nice, 2 older guys who now talking about taking highs and lows against me (Maybe not against me but since It seemed to be looked at somewhat here since I was playing with them for a while even got a comment from one becasue the blinds made me play a 7-2 and the flop hit 7 and 2 and i went at it) as other players at the table YOUNGER and OLDER had no problem just throwing in chips just for the thrill of the play,

I DONT KNOW ITS MUST BE ME, I got a problems just dumping $1 in a pot and playing 58o or Q3o but everyones range at the table was all over the place and $20's were flying all over the table, I HAVE GOT TO QUIT PLAYING SCARED MONEY

WHY YOU ASK - ROB YOURE JOKING YOU PLAY SCARED MONEY

POCKET K's Just put one Ace in the flop and put any number you want for the turn and river that wouldnt make a straight or flush. BETTING gets intense for me.

OK EVERYONE I NEED HELP HERE CAUSE I GOT BLUFFED OUT OF A LOT MONEY ON THIS ONE.

I call the $2 on the flop get raised $4 (If I wasnt committed I should of got out here- Ididnt) I called $2 - turn comes I get bet $4 I call it hoping for a KING on the the river same money going but this time I aint wanting to call another $4 bet since that ace is there. ALl I have is 2 K's River doesnt help me so I fold and the he didnt show, Showing my card room sauvy, I had to ask him, said he didnt have the ACE, NOW I DONT KNOW, I keep hearing at the table, "I guess Ill pay to see it" I was so committed at this point I guess I should of raised him or something. JUST PISS POOR PLAY BY ME

DId Get some hard beats for sorta big money - Ace high flush beaten by full house

BACK TO THE QUADZILLA's OK all night long playing any pockets if they hit by the turn Im out

LAST HAND OF THE EVENING 10 10 FLOP AA2 SO one guy is going bet crazy And IM with him BAMM the TURN is a 10 THIS HAND IS MIND and MAYBE THE QUADZILLA and IM ALL IN at the turn River is nothing feeling like Im gonna get a good deal of money back as me and this guy got everyone out of the pot. LETS SAY I LOST THIS HAND AND I NEVER HAD A CHANCE FOR MY QUADZILLA , does that tell you anything

As far as telling people stuff, MY GOD I AM SO FAR BEHIND THE TIMES, these people playing knew what each other had they were calling and its like they new from the get go and Im just like in awe some of the stuff people were saying to each other across the table but all I know is one hand I had a JK floped JK4 TURN 7 RIVER 4 OK NO PROBLEM got this one even with possiblity of trips. Even better the guy turns over AA and then to add insult to injury I hear him tell the person beside him, I knew he had 2 pair. I didnt feel I was limping, I was pushing in as much as limit will allow and I dont know

So if I would of left the card room after 2 hrs Id made $37 profit by staying 8 hrs I end up at a negative $25 so basically I played 8 hrs for $25. BUT ROB WANTED HIS QUADZILLA

I noticed a lot of people dont mind coming up to the table and keep rebuying in and playing in almost every hand and lots of times they do make something out of nothing due to limit structure. but they dont seem to mind dropping $100 with no problem.

AFTER TONIGHT and I dont know if Im throwing hands to old people (BUT THEY DID START CUTTING OUT THEIR ACTION EVERYTIME I BET so I guess its a catch 22) BUT ONE THING I AM NOT GOING TO DO AGAIN is shoot after these stupid bonus games and just focus on winning.

SO tonight was my fault I played too long, played too much stupid stuff on a chance for an extra $500

BUT MAYBE TONIGHT WAS THE FIRST STEP, I didnt beat myself up for all the mistakes, I never let the table show I was bothered as I was friendly with everyone. AND I LEFT THE CASINO thinKING ITS GAMBLING ROB, (EVERY one needs to understand a small $25 loss to me feels like massive destruction but I left the card room HAPPY)

I probably invested the least of anyone who played at the table all during the time. I was up and could of left and that was playing smart poker, its when I started chasing is when I started losing

IM Exhausted and hope some of this makes sense since I aint re-reading but I GOTTA GET THIS LINGO DOWN, I GOTTA REMEMBER POCKET CARDS and quit all this relooking, and everything else

BUT I WILL SAY ONE THING, I HAVE HAD MORE FUN PLAYING IN A CARD ROOM then I have had playing online.

APPOX 10:30 the dealer who got me quads returns to my table and the running joke continues, HEY I DEALT YO THOSE QUADS EARLIER YOU STILL TRYING for #2

Many hands tonight I just Id have pocket pairs and the flop would hit me trips so I bet even as Im watching a flush build but yet Im betting until the river to see if the quad would hit, SO IM PLAYING HANDS I KNOWN IM BEATEN to try to win money. This happened a few times, sometimes it got real hard to stomache when the bets were getting raised on me. ANd yes I was beaten so on the river Id fold instead of getting bleed out another $2 or $4 dollars.

They makes such a big deal with this crap bringing pit bosses over to tables getting your names down and then all the hoopla after it. So basically I think people were exploiting the hell out of this since people would keep bringing it up, each dealer exchange the old dealer would be sure to tell the new dealer to get me quads. and the announcer talking about 2 people in the casino looking for their 2nd quads which again brought it up. I got some folks saying they would go for it too and then I got the eye contact with people when I folded rivers when It seems I was really after somthing.

ALSO YES it does seem I will be playing with a lot of the same people but at random times and I dont want to get a bad reputation. WHEN IS IT OK TO GET UP AND RUN LIKE HELL FROM THE TABLE. After every big win I want to run, but I keep telling myself just sit here and grind this stuff out and learn it. If I leave when Im way ahead It will probably kill a lot of action on later dates, but what is acceptable after youre up about where you are pleased with the profit, wait an orbit after some big wins, If its the grumpy old folks, just placate them with a few more small bets and go. Or just be your own boss and go

BUT WHAT IM SAYING IS THESE OLD FOLKS DONT CARE IF THEY WIN IF THEY LOSE, they wanna bet, and they are bringing some cash to the tables. I aint saying they suck but I am saying they are offering nice looking stacks from the get go and they dont leave when they bust out, they just keep buying so I DO NOT WANT TO LOSE ALL ACTION FROM THESE FOLKS - I even went so far as to pull out another $20 to buy chips at the table when my stack was getting low to show that Im spending too.

I hope this make sense Im going to bed Im exhausted ALL IM SEEING IS QUADS QUADS QUADS QUADS

Default Something not right on this hand

JUST PISS POOR PLAY BY ME

    -------------------------------------------------------

I CUT THIS FROM THE FIRST POST AND ITS REALLY BUGGING ME NOW AS I THINK HE TOLD ME THE TRUTH BUT I ASKED THE WRONG QUESTION

IM on POCKET KINGS (I call $1 maybe I need to start raising up but you got IM SACRED) so I call the $1

FLOP I CANT REMEMBER BUT ONLY ONE CARD WAS IMPORTANT TO ME

FLOP 3A6 TURN 9 FLOP 8 basically the board had no flushes on no straights on it

Actually I was in the late position here also

Betting comes my way on flop HE bet $1 (all you can unless you get raised) I called and now all I can think is I know this guy has the ace

Turn comes -He puts up another $2 and I calls him again. Still I have him on the ace and all IM doing now is chasing and bleeding

River comes nothing and he puts me up for another $2 and I had enough here but by this info and (chip stacks about the same a few dollars apart) I figured Im beated by and ace

and of course I fold (appox $6 or $7 to this guy) so what do ya'll put him on the ace - a bluff - or 2 pairs

I asked him a hand later if he had the ace and he said no, Im sorry but he throwing up some cash and doesnt know if Im on the ace or not maybe he has me on ace low kicker or something.

THIS HAS BOTHERED ME ALL NIGHT - I now think this guy was on 2 pairs and he told me the truth about the ace (oh yea this is a great example of money all over this place - THIS guy was out of town babysitting his cousin and decided to kill time by bringing over $100 in chips to the table which by 11pm he was down to $4 )

OK SO if he was on two pairs then I can feel better (but not really) DID THE ACE blind me to the fact either he had 2 pairs or trip low pairs (pocket low pairs). The range on this table is all over the place so any card played was no surprise since LIMIT seems to give everyone a chance to catch someone.

I dont know THIS HAND IS BUGGIN ME TODAY. He didnt know I had pocket K's so he must of had me on the ace and possible 2 pairs so I guess he must of really had trip and thats why when the river didnt make a possible boat out of what he thought I had, he threw in more money. DOES ANY OF THIS SOUND LIKE IM ON THE RIGHT PATH. GOD THIS GAME IS SO MULTIFACETED

    - ---------------------------

OK I GOT IT NOW IM STILL THINKING ON THIS, HE WAS ON LOW TRIPS and and was probably looking to get his first 1/2 of the quadzilla and had to keep me in the pot until at least $10 is in the pot (on the rules for it to count). I really think now it was trips because he had to have me on the ace since he wasnt. and dont know if he would of continued betting me on 2 low pairs since an ace was on the board and any ace rag almost would of hit me high 2 pair and my betting didnt indicate any backdown until the river bet. See dont ya'll love the thread where I keep trying to answer my own questions, thanks for bearing with it, it really helps me sort it out,

    Hey Rob.
First i want to thanks you for your insights about playin live in a casino. I found it really useful for you as a debriefing and for us too, cause you're really honnest while writing down this report.
I would only tell you one thing about poker, anywhere, OL or live. IMO, the most important thing when you're sitting at a table is to feel how your opponents would feel about losing $ they bring to the table, ie their relationship to the money.
When i seat at a table, i will consider the money not to be mine anymore, so that i can relax about losing it all. Of course, the differences between all players is the amount they can afford to lose, and that's what you should guess about your opponents.
You're probably able to feel it after few hands played, and that's why you should probably watch the table for a little while before seating, just to catch those infos as soon as possible.
Keep on playing there, take notes about the regulars, don't show that you're upset to lose $25 and with few rounds of practice, you'll be able to win more and lose less.

Thanks for the good words, maybe Ill just start a thread on my card room life and just add from there so as not to overwhelm the boards, but if you like 'em Ill keep posting

I going today, FIRST RULES - If I get a quad again I aint playing for another only and if I get quad and am up pretty goood I will leave after a few more plays.

I think I m going to limit myself to no more than 4 hours at one time (as I can always drive right back for after noons and evening) unless I just suddenly get hot at the 4 hour mark.

im getting back to basics today, No funny stuff unless I do it by accident. I must say I love playing live and losing the $25 didnt really bother me as bad as losing $2 online I dont why. I thinik because Im seeing first hand people really playing hard poker and going for it on much higher startegy levels than I can even comprehend right now and this is at the lowest limit table $1/$2 except blinds $1/$1 and betting is capped at $8 per turn if its raised like that.

I played online for a few hours last night and just wasnt the same but I will say it did seem a hell of a lot harder at .01/02 nl tables than my low limit live table. anyways Ill hopefully Ill be up again today but I look at like this, the other day I was up and took a little bit to get some traction after the quad win. but I was able to pick my spots and i had almost double up in 2 hours but playing for quads and just not playing well or thinking well cost me the whole stack +5
