Thread: Delaware Park Poker Room

    Default Delaware Park Poker Room

I was in the new room again today. Tables all have cup holders, shufflers, the room has a gallery area for watching final tables. The chairs have larger bases. It's a first class room. Many (10... I think) will have a bravo system in the table for cash over flow on weekends. The room will have it's own full bar area, rest rooms facilities in the room and a nice waiting area for players. Lots of room between the tables (un Harrah's like). I have to say that I think it's a nicer set up then the present cash room. I counted 24 TV's in the room (including the 8 over the bar). They've built 4 cashier cages and registration will be available in both rooms ..... uhhhhh, i think. Since there is distance from the slot area, the room and players will not be exposed too much to slot noise, but I admit, I like the rail birds and their try at poker. Smoking outside about 125 feet from the room, but no second hand smoke for you guys that hate that. Bottom line is this room's opening is only two weeks away with a 150.00 buy in on Friday night for a guarantee of $20,000 prize pool at 7PM. I'm in...where do I sign up? Even the friggin midnight on Friday for only 85.00 has a $5000 guarantee and a bounty. I'm in for them both, just for kicks. And the best thing for other players is I suck at tournament poker so I'm easy money.

I understand that the freeroll will be October 12th (don't hold me to that date) for us regulars who accumulate 40 hours this month.

I have the flyer for the tournament "kick off weekend". The weekend goes like this:

    Friday October 1, 2010 @7 PM, $150.00 buy in, $20,000 guaranteed.
Midnight 85.00 buy in bounty (I think it's a 20.00 bounty, but don't hold me to that number) with a $5000.00 guarantee payout.

Saturday@ noon $230 buy in with a $25,000 Guarantee (I'm playing the two in front of this and will be sleeping)

Saturday 7 PM and Midnight will be the same as Friday with the same payouts guaranteed.

Sunday 1 PM 150.00 buy in with a $20,000 Guarantee and another one at 7 PM with the same $150 buy in and same $20,000 guarantee.

That's as much info as I have. I know the starting stacks will go up from the present structure. The flyer does not have time such as 20, 25 or 30 minute blinds.

It would be nice to be able to register on line, but that's probably not in the cards for now.

    Default One other Thing

The poker room at Delware Park has been running since June with 20 tables. The new room and "three a day tournament structure" will add 25 tables for a total of 45 tables. This move makes Delaware Park the largest room on the East Coast outside of Atlantic City except for Foxwoods. Best yet, they have a 4.00 max rake, just like Vegas and AC, where Pa rooms rake 5.00 or even 6.00. The morning, afternoon and midnight schedule will be every day. I also know they plan some "deep stacks"

I've been looking forward to the new room opening. I've played a couple tournaments in the temporary room and don't particularly like the format. I'm hoping in the new room the tournaments will have a little less of a turbo feel with short starting stack. Unfortunately, no way I'll qualify for freeroll if you need 40 hours, wish I had the time and money to invest.

    Default Those tournaments at DP

I know exactly what you mean by "turbo feel". It was always my complaint and why I played them only twice. The management at DP helped the Venetian run tournaments and they believe in "deeper stack" skill based games. The starting stacks in the new room will be larger. They have flyers available now and their web site has further details.

Gone to this place 3 times in the past 2 weeks and it just grows on me. I'm a regular at Harrah's but once in a while get bored there and want to play other opponents (also have a friend who's a dealer at Harrah's and likes me to take her to DP to play, but that's another matter). The room definitely feels cleaner and nicer than Harrah's and the lighting is better.

Haven't been to the tournament room yet. Figure cash games are a better investment at this point. Might go down and play one for fun in the coming weeks.
