Default Semi Annual WSOP seat up for grabs

Feb 9-11th - My live league is having the semi annual with first place prize being a $1500 seat to WSOP plus travel and lodging. The last time they had it 3 hours away and I had to pass but this time its righthere in town. Only have 22 wins this time around, havent played too much livelately, so I will be starting with a much shorter stack then some. Well anyways its a month up the road. I have been making strides to improve my game and sometimes it shows and sometimes it doesnt but this game has become a lot more fun trying to get into the mechanics of a hand and trying to figure out my opponent, (HMMM did I just say that). I WANT TO WIN THE SEAT but they give up prizes for top 30 or 40 and proabaly wil have at last 200 people in it

THE SET UP - 3 Sessions and the survivors of each 6 level session (2 hours) moves onto the final day of play. So lets get thru day one first. I will update when the time gets closer

Good Luck DanAbs!!! Hope you take it down!

HOH 1 & 2, & maybe Arnold Snyder's Poker Tournament Formula (< if it's fast structure tourney ... which the majority of live tourneys are unless bigger buyins).

Would be real cool if you win the SEAT!!!

Thanks PO, Yeah Ive been gearing up and playing more live and actually putting in some study time, This one is gonna either be a lot tougher or be a lot easier. For these semi-annual events we pool together all 3 cities (jacksonville, Orlando, DAytona) in the league so Ill be seeing people I have never played against. If its like the last time I played, I can probably fold my way to the final day, as long as win my blinds back (even that means winning one bigger pot later). SO on day one all the specualtive shit is out the window, T9 JT 89. MIght take a stab at a couple of Axs (since yall have opened my eyes) but basically I will start with

10K + 21 x500 10.5K so my starting stack will be only 20.5K DAMN I JUST THOUGHT OF THIS, this is gonna be just a like an avalnache free roll and the beginning, I might have to change that survive mode and find those easy chips on the first day. I will be starting pretty shortacked

remember for 6 months of live league play, you have to win one time to be allowed to play and get your 10K in chips and then for each win after you get 500 more chips so I have won a totally of 22x. Not bad for one day a week over 6 months but some of the league regs (play 6 out 7 nights) FREE POKER GET PRETTY FUCKING EXPENSIVE DOING that much. SO they will have much higher stacks and Im sure it will bethe same for incoming cities

THIS WILL BE FUN - It seems like a big event. Winner gets $1500 +travel/lodigng WSOP seat - and the rest are prizes like TV's - VIdeo game units - Cruisies - I also think they are giving the option of the money too this time. As the payouts go lower they have Ipod Nanos, and I think the first ITM'ers get a professional card deck or something.

SOme of these players will be giving chips away (the ones that bitch at the dealer 3 hands in talking about you havent given me a hand alnight???) but some of these dudes are CARDROOM RODE HARD, they play league cause the the card room has BUSTO'd some of these players, but that dont mean they are easy to play and not to mention the card room regs that just like to put in volumne anywhere live LOL. So this is is gonna be either 2 day deal, or this could be a 20minute deal ending on Sat LOL.

DanAbs, those Ax hands are for in later levels.... you definitely don't want to be calling with them in early levels as you'll quite often be dominated (even fold AJ, KQ, KJ type hands vs. early position raises... these hands can potentially get you in ALOT of trouble!!).
In early levels you're actually far better off to call raise in LP (if it's a passive table that doesn't have alot of LP re-raising/isolating strong-aggressive players who'll re-raise/squeeze over raiser's w callers) with your speculative type hands, ie. 87o, T8s, 75s, 64s, etc... & some AXs (< as long as you can get away from them when you do hit weak TopPr. type hands). Also your small pp's when effective stacks are deep enough (typically you want 'both' stacks.. your's & villain's to be 15x (min.) the amount of the raise in order for them to be profitable to call with intentions of set-mining.

In later levels your KJ, KQ, AJ, A8o.. etc. hands become much stronger (when stacks are shallower .. ie. 15-22bb's).. when we're looking to get it in over LP steal-raises.. .with 'fold equity'.

Dump the Ax crap in early levels.

OK got some live pratice in this week and just getting geared up for tomorrow.

Tomorrow proposed to interesting dilemma. FIrst is to surivive to get to play for the seat on sunday. BUt the ranges of chip stacks are gonna be huge so Imnot sure I just need to turn on the aggression while chips are cheap and try toget some of those stacks quick. (BUT ROB wouldnt it depend on your table) exactly what I was gonna say, Ill have to see the type players at my table.

I will be starting with a appox 20K stack so this thing should be massive betting from the get go regardless of blind size. OH well looks to be over 300 entered in this and my game PART 1 is tomorrow at 11am Either this thread ends tomorrow or ILL BE LEADING YOU TO THE FINAL TABLE

Rob, you definitely want to pay attention to the size of the blinds. Size of the blinds in ratio to the size of the stacks is key information (it's far more important than the just the size of the stacks).

gl DanAbs!! Hope you take it down.
