Phil Hellmuth broke the record held by Doyle Brunson and Johnny Chan to become the first player in history to get 11 World Series of Poker gold bracelets.
on June 11th 2007 Hellmuth reached the milestone upon winning a three-day, $1,500 No-Limit Texas Hold’em event at the 38th Annual WSOP
Brunson and Chan, with 10 bracelets each, were on hand Monday night to present Hellmuth with the record 11th bracelet.
Does this mean the poker brat has finally proved he is the best poker player in the world ?
Or is he always going to be viewed as a self opinionated brat no matter how many titles he wins ?
cheers scrawnybob

It is good effort by him and he is without a doubt one of the best tournement players in the world. It is going to be interesting to see how many more he wins and whether he will get competition for the most WSOP bracelets from guys like Allen Cunningham and Erik Siedel, or even Phil Ivey if he decides to play more than 2 WSOP events in a year like he is doing atm.

I guess everyone has branded him the brat you have to hate
but then you really cant deny he must be "quite good" to have got the bracelets
I just wish he was a bit more gracious about it - even Tony G's table manner is just that (away from the table he isnt the same TonyG)
from what I've heard Hellmuth is just as irritatingly opinionated away from the table - I just hope I never have to sit next to him - his talent makes up for is bratty ness - but really he could just as easily learn to get some manners and less of an ego
cheers scrawnybob

I just watched one of the Super 16 Episodes from Poker Superstars III and he got knocked out on the very first hand by Jonny Chan. Phil had QQ and Jonny had KK. He didnt do anything wrong, who is gonna fold QQ four handed pre-flop!!

In my opinion, I think Phil is the second best player ever. Only Johnny Chan is better in my opinion. I think Chan could have 1 mill. in chips and any other player could have 5 mill, and Chan could take them down with average cards. He has unreal talent. Chan is the Tiger Woods of poker. Phil is the Phil (lefty) of poker.
Phil is an exceptional player...it is too bad his attitude sucks... i have no doubt that this will not be the last bracelet he wins..as i have no doubt the rest of us will hear about it over and over by phil
