The $5000 NL Hold 'Em has only 640 entrants, which is the clearest indication of how much the online poker companies have caused the size of the main event to explode like it has done. Event 22 has a buy-in that is half the amount of the main event but has no where near as many enterants as the main event.
Personally I think the winner of this event is most likely goin to be a better NL Hold 'Em player than the winner of the main event, not to take away from the winner of the main event but it is much more likely that they are not what you would called one of world's best players, while the winner of the $5,000 is more likely to be one.
The final table of Event 22 is being played today and the top 20 finishers is a filled with a lot more recognisable names than this years main event top 20 will probably be. Players such as Phil Laak, Ross Boatman, Kathy Liebert, Chris Martin and Tex Barch are all in there. Some of the other bigger names are playing in other events such as the PL Omaha or were still in the NL Hold 'Em Shootout.
