In a S&G you want to play very tight in the beginning and loosen up a bit after a few people are gone and the chips are worth more. If you try to steal more and get busted you carry that the rest of the game and your bets are not going to push any1 off of a decent hand.

The ultimate goal of any MTT is to reach the final table where you are in the money. It is actually a S&G once you reach it. If you use your bankroll properly and play in MTT`s that you do not have to win you can play a bit looser in the beginning after the all in donks are out and try and get a decent stack built up. I then play tighter in the middle of them and loosen up just before bubble time with decent starting hands and try and knock people off their blinds. Once you reach the FT treat it as a S&G and go for the gold!!!!!!!!

I think Howard had stated the stragedy properly for a S & G.The difference as Orifice correctly pointed out is the chip stacks at the final table are obviously not going to be equal at the MTT final table. Its obvious if your short stacked your going play differently plus by the time you reach a final table in a MTT the Blinds are already going to be very high. The question was how do you a play a MTT at the beginning compared to a S & G from the beginning.I play more hands early on in a MTT tourney when the blinds are cheap because l want to build up a chip stack. But as Howard pointed out you only need to aim for the top 3.Get there and you can change geers and go for 1st once your in the money.
