Default Small field Priv. MTT, final table - What do we do?

Another HandHistory post for you all. Here goes....

It's the final table of a small-field MTT, with Top 9 getting paid (7 players are left).
Blinds are 100/200 w no antes (yet) but are going up soon!
Villain is on the button and is known to raise/blind steal in LP fairly frequently & their standard size of raise is 3 to 3.5bb's at this stage/level. HERO has ALOT of history playing vs most of the players on the table & has played in many of the same tournaments as villain.
Villain will occassionally raise light in an effort to steal blinds BUT they will also call a bit on the light side too when shoved back at (HERO has also been known to re-steal/shove back alot, but to add keep their re-steal range balanced, they've been known to shove back with AA, & KK as part of that range (instead of shipping it with AK/AQ type hands, & 3-betting ~2.5x with Monster pairs so as to add some deception to their game as HERO knows that villain is a very astute, observant player & level 2 thinking is for sure a part of the game (if not level 3 as well).
So.... here is the situation. Villain raises OTB & HERO has 12.5bb in SB with 8-8. There are also 2 other stacks on the table who are shorter than HERO, each having less than 10bb's apiece.
What do we do? ...... and Why?

    Okay I'll bite.

You are not calling here no point . It's either fold or re raise.. I'd re raise. The only question is how much. All in or half my stack.

If he knows you he'll see allin as a steal and is likly to call with any half decent hand, where as 1200 or 1400 he might consider you want a call and have a hand and unless he has a monster he should fold.

I could be totally wrong but will be intresting to see your analysis on this and the result.

You say the blinds are going up soon so you gonna be sat with a lot less equity than you have now if you fold and his raise could be anything from that position especially with it being two short stacks in the blinds

I'm playing to win so its an All-in baby from me

I think I would fold. Probably at best you're looking at two over cards, and with two smaller stacks than you who are going to face the blinds before you do you can hope to finish ahead of them.

If you are going to call or raise, I think you're best to go all in. I think if you just called, you'd be in a terrible pickle if you missed your set and he bet at you again.

    I'll give two options.

First, if he's been stealing a lot on this particular day, pushem all to the middle. If he folds you pick up 1k and make a much stronger position for yourself within the tournament. If he calls with two overs... well you got a coin flip for a much stronger shot at winning the tournament. I say this mainly as a player who always is going for the win as opposed to going for the top 4 or wherever. You know what I mean.

Secondly and I'm sure unpopularly... smooth call. In my opinion you'll look like you have a big hand. If you manage a flop with only one over like a J or 10 you can still make a reasonable push. You have the first position post flop... which is the better of the two for you in this situation. Flop hits a bunch of overs and maybe you wont be so keen as to push. Its on that line because the smooth call is so much of your stack it makes it look like you might have a monster. IDK.

    Tough spot.
And on any given day I may do something different than the other. I see folding as a very reasonable option as well.

    Good luck.

I would fold 65% and raise all-in 35%. It would all depends on my opponent table image and on my own image and feelings. In this case, i'm likely to fold as i don't feel like i'm already engage and as i can't really have a read on my opponent hand. Plus of course the fact that you can wait a bit longer for a better spot, IMO. Leave the risk to the other, or "watch the fire burning accross the river" as my sig told it.

I would make these plays depending on how I felt at that time.

    1. Fold: safe play, and good chance I am in coin flip if called. Plus any short stack that calls only makes it more likely others will and against more than one player, i dont like 88.

    2. All-In: with the knowns you had at beginning, this basically says, I am not messing around, so people need to at least think making call. Maybe super lucky and villian has A rag suited and decides to gamble or suited 67, 78, or 89.

    3. Smooth call. Take my chance, see the flop, and how it plays. If read this right it is 500 more to call and leaves you with around 2,000 chips and in same position although closer to the lower two.

    4. Re-raise. I like this play the least. it is going to short stack you and you will practically be pot committed or sever disadvantage if you decide to fold it after flop.

    I'd say maybe 50% - 35% - 15% - 0%.

I for one would probably fold with a quickness, but as this is exzactly one of my main issues with playing right now, and that is how i am to handle these low pocket pairs
