this is a good post but ..... its a basic starting pack .... there are lots of other factors to bring into it ..... your position .... you pesived reputation at the table ... but also how you persive the othere players at the tables.....
there ore so may factors ..... but as a starter ... play it tight ....hold out for a good hand .... when you get a good hand push .... well just my thoughts

hi andy
yep definately it's more of a basic overview for winning MTT tournaments -
here you can find all our poker strategy articles
position and table image are important for all poker games - cash and tournament which are covered in other articles in the poker articles section
I'll be adding more specific guides / strategy ideas to the site as we now have some of the more basic areas covered
the key point (from memory) of the article is understanding the different phases of MTT's as this is an area that many players miss - which leads them to play with the same approach or outlook throughout the whole game
ie. picking off the weak players in the early stages, looking for and avoiding confrontation with the good players at all stages, recognising when the early easy fish stage is coming to an end & adapting to pre-bubble stage and whether to be realistic and go for cashing a place or gamble on the win based on how many chips you have and the probabilities etc
great to have some feedback - as it helps me focus on possible articles for the future ;-)
cheers scrawnybob

I like this with the exception for a couple of disagreements. I know everyone has different strategies and opinions, but I'm only basing mine off past mtt success. I think once you get to 10% the BB, you're starting to get into danger zone. Better make a move soon because it will be too easy to get called and sucked out on by some joke hand. I love that it puts emphasis on being aggressive late. I can't stand to see players play tight in the end...this is what you've been playing for! I don't go into a tourney hoping to last, I play to win. Play strong because you'll be amazed by pots you can pick up by playing aggressive.
My MTT experience is all at freeroll and low stakes games.
From that basis, I can't disagree with your basic advice. The more players the greater the need for a plan. You can't say enough that even good players can have LONG cashless streaks.
My question, for more adventurous players, is there a morons stage in higher stakes MTT's?
